The summer which seemed would never end, with the month of September has come to an end, and with the Holiday of Labor Day marks the beginning of the work around the churches as well. This did not mean however, that we did nothing during the summer. There were things that could not be postponed, and we can very proudly say that God was with us in the summer. Looking back through the summer days, I cannot give a report without mentioning the success of our Vacation Bible School, which we organize in our church every summer. This year’s school lasted two weeks, during which time we strived to fulfill the obligation that God entrusted us with— to instruct our children in His teachings. The average attendance in our Summer Vacation Bible School was around 60. I would like to thank all those who helped us out, both as teachers or as helpers. In the last issue of the Magyar Egyház we mentioned that our Senior Women’s Club was preparing for their picnic. We can now report that the picnic was a huge success. Financially it was better than the last two year’s together. Not only members of our church but from the neighboring towns and states were present with us enjoying the music of “Cigány Jóska” and his orchestra. Among those guests attending the picnic were Bishop and Mrs. Dezső Abraham who were spending their vacation in New Jersey, and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Török, chief-elder of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Windsor, Ont. Canada. As a mid-summer adventure, one Sunday morning, some members of our church surprised the membership by making donuts. The congregation appreciated the work of the ladies, and we appreciate it too. There were other occasions when we gathered together and worked for the physical and spiritual upbringing of the church, which I will not mention in this place, but which I know are recorded in the book of life by the great Reporter, our God. And now some remarks concerning our statistics: Marriage: August 14, Mr. Lambert J. Barber and Ms. Florence Egry. May God guide them on their united road together. Baptism: in the absence of our pastor, conducted by Rev. Gabor Nitsch, we received into the family of the church, Michael Eugene, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Zsolt Nagyhetényi. Funerals: Mr. Steve Simon, and Mrs. Daniel Sebestyén. May our Almighty God give comfort to those in sorrow. Special Celebration: the members of our church and good friends of the family of the Lazok’s gathered to honor Mr. and Mrs. William Lazok on the occasion of their 40th Wedding Anniversary. We congratulate them as well. ROEBLING, N. J. June was an exceptionally busy month for us. On June 6, we celebrated Pentecost with our Confirmation and Communion Service. Kinberly Ann Robb and Frank William Cordero were confirmed as members of our church after completing successfully the course of study. We welcome them into our fellowship! On Monday, June 7 the Women’s Guild enjoyed a combined business and social evening together with a dinner at the Town and Country Diner. On June 12, the men in our church who participate in the Bowling League, attended their annual dinner-dance which was held in New Egypt. Children’s Day was observed on Sunday, June 13 with a special program put on by the children of the Sunday School under the direction of the church school staff. The Women’s Guild undertook a new and highly successful project for Father’s Day on June 20, a Pancake Breakfast. It was a wonderful treat for Fathers and families and we congratulate the women. Heritage Day in Florence Township was held at the Waterworks on Saturday, June 26. Our church had the best display of our heritage — folk art, books, etc. as well as our favorite foods. We sorrowfully report the passing of one of our faithful friends, Mr. Nicholas A. Csogi, on Friday, June 25. The service was held on the 29th with interment at the Riverview Cemetery in Trenton. We pray that his wife and family receive comfort in the knowledge of God’s eternal love and life. On July 4 our church participated in the Florence Township parade with a float depicting the Statue of Liberty and the New York skyline with children in Hungarian dress landing on the U.S. shores. We received a plaque for our participation. On July 17 Michelle Varga and Michael Scott were united in holy matrimony in our church. We wish them many long years of happiness together. STATEN ISLAND, N. Y. The 60th anniversary of the congregation will be observed in a series of several occasions: first, on Homecoming Sunday, October 17, 1976, during the morning worship service followed by a reception. For this day the congregation is especially inviting all persons who were baptized or confirmed at the church as well as former church members and neighbors. Many such persons, at present, may be living at great distances from the church. As a part of Homecoming weekend, an historical exhibit is planned for Saturday and Sunday, October 16 and 17. The community will be invited to a reception on October 16. In this Bicentennial year, the exhibit will highlight not only church life but also the story of the town of Charlestown, or Kreicherville, where our church is located. Members and friends of the congregation are urged to wear colonial dress or Hungarian folk dress for the Homecoming weekend festivities and worship services. (Your help in loaning materials for the exhibit is needed. Call us about old newspapers, photos, programs, tickets and other things that reflect work, family and church life during the past 60 years, or the past 200 years on Staten Island.) On Sunday, November 7, we will gather for a worship service of thanksgiving and commemoration at 4:00 p.m. An anniversary dinner will follow. At the close of the anniversary year,
