12 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS AKRON, OHIO The following persons were confirmed in our church on June 6, Holy Trinity Sunday: Lorand Banda, Julia Bernath, Joann Druga, Lajos Herczeg, Laura Herczeg, Miklós Kiss, Valeria Kiss, József Revesz and Ronald Vargo. May God bless richly our new adult church members. The interior of our church was beautifully repainted. We baptized Lynn Michelle Wells, the daughter of Danny and Betty Ann Wells, godparents are Steve and Kathleen Schwartz. Our annual church picnic will be held on July 18, Sunday in beautiful Ridgeway Park. We invite all our friends. ALLEN PARK, MICH. The Hungarian Fair Committee participated in the Allen Park International Festival with 16 other groups May 21-23 and gained excellent recognition in the “downriver” area. The summer outing of the Golden Circle Club to the farm of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kollar was on June 27. The annual picnic of the Dorcas Guild, June 29, was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Gayer in Taylor, Mich. The Men’s Guild and Golden Circle Club hosted the annual outing for all members of the congregation at Champaigne Park on July 25. The new advisors of the Christian Youth Fellowship are Mrs. Rose Faragó, and Mrs. Rose Wickers. Newly elected officers: Chris Mei president, Laura Wickers vice president, Kim Csorgo secretary, Brian Toth treasurer. The advisor of the reorganized Young Adult Club is Mr. William Veresh. A new organization was formed in the church: Martha Circle. The officers took their official oath on June 20: president Deborah Indre, vice president Margaret Tarkanyi, secretary Sandra Sobodash, treasurer Linda Varga, historian Diane Galloro. Statistics: baptism: Jason William Hall, son of Robert A. Hall and Elizabeth J. Kish. Marriages: Timothy P. Doughty and Gyula E. Corps on May 22; Roland R. Frostell and Irene G. Papp June 11; John M. Chascsa and Nancy L. Lecky June 19. Other statistics are recorded in the Hungarian news section. Harvest thanksgiving holy communion will be on August 8 at both services. CARTERET, N. J. After their public examination the following five young people were confirmed on May 30: Harry Leeman Brand, Linda Susan George, Steven Kulcsár, Robert Daniel Nagy, Tibor Varga. They joined the congregation in holy communion on Pentecost Sunday. Mrs. Agnes Dorko was elected treasurer of United Church Women at their annual conference in Perth Amboy. Nine women from the Lorantfy Society and the Pastor were in attendance. On June 20 the English language worship service was conducted by members of the Sunday School. Forty-three Sunday School members — including teachers — received attendance awards. Mrs. Irene Lukach has been teaching for 23 consecutive years, Mrs. Kay Lukach for 13. The Junior Women’s Guild is planning a Fashion Show for September 27 to be held in Bethlen Hall. Funeral: Mrs. Elizabeth Csorna Hombordy, 80, on May 13. She was born in Kisvárda and came to the United States in 1910. Pastor Dr. Harsanyi addressed the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Canada held in Arnprior, Ontario as a fraternal delegate of the North American Area Council of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches representing all Presbyterian and Reformed Churches in North America and the Caribbean. DUQUESNE, PA. Funerals: John Kovács, June 15th, interment in our cemetery. William E. Wargo (Florida) a former chief elder and chairman of the building committee of our present church, June 21. Ronald E. Wargo, 24, drowned in an accident, July 1st, interment in our cemetery. During the months of July and August we will hold our services one hour earlier: 9 a.m. Hungarian, 10 a.m. English Worship Service. August 1st — Sunday — Harvest- Home Communion. Vacation Bible School will be held August 2nd to August 6th, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. During the Pastor’s vacation the Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy, Administrator of the Bethlen Home and the Rev. Sándor Mészáros, First Hungarian Lutheran Church’s pastor from Pittsburgh were our guest speakers. McKeesport, pa. On May 23, Patricia Ann Jordan, Diana Lynn Mihal and Charlene Ann Solvay were confirmed. June 6, Pentecost: The Lord’s Supper was served on both services. Those who were confirmed on May 23 participated in the Lord’s Supper for the first time. June 13: Our graduates were honored and received a gift certificate from Mrs. Theresa Bakos on behalf of the Women's Guild. June 20, Father’s Day, we had a combined service at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Father’s Day Dinner at 12:00 noon. The dinner was sponsored by the Youth Fellowship. During the dinner Thea Jordanhazy, Renee Orris and Steve Torok recited poems in honor of the fathers. Vacation Bible School on June 28- July 2. Congregational Picnic on August 15. Our Women’s Guild participated in the Good Neighbor Day Bicentennial program with a Hungarian Booth in Downtown McKeesport. July 4: Celebration of the Bicentennial of the United States. Mrs. Louis Jardanhazy was our soloist during a combined worship service. Funerals: Andrew Fustos, 86, died on June 11, funeral on June 14 from our church. Louis Kliment, 55, died on June 14, funeral on June 17 from our church. May God comfort their loved ones. PERTH AMBOY, N. J. The observance of the Holidays, Ascension Thursday and Pentecost are over, and very soon we slip into the almost do nothing period of summer. However there was plenty of action around our church in the past two months.
