12 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ Thursday and Easter Sunday were very well attended, on Good Friday evening (English) and on Saturday evening (Hungarian) rather poorly. Holy Thursday communion service proved again to be a blessed opportunity to have communion in the “home church” for those who went away for the Easter holidays. Ten shut-ins received communion in their homes. Donations during the holidays surpassed expectations. Nine members of the Lorantfy Society attended the annual conference of United Church Women in Perth Amboy on May 2. Mrs. Agnes Dorko was elected treasurer for 1976-77. It should be of interest to note that a number of men were also present. Most of them came as drivers but then participated in the conference and visibly enjoyed it. It was felt by many that men’s participation should be expanded. Confirmation dates: examination on May 27, confirmation on May 30, first communion on Pentecost Sunday, June 6. There are five young people in this year’s senior class. Funeral: Mrs. Elsie Nemish Ullers-. berger, 44, on April 7. She was the wife of Elder Francis Ullersberger and the daughter of Synodal Chief Elder John Nemish and his wife. At the funeral service the church was filled to capacity. 2 Corinthians 12:9 was the Pastor’s funeral sermon text. DUQUESNE, PA. The Western Pennsylvania Branches of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America held a dinner-dance to commemorate the Federation’s 80th anniversary, in the Holiday Inn, West Mifflin, on May 1. The area churches’ membership participated in great numbers, thus assuring a great success to this cause. Net profits went to the Bethlen Home and the Scholarship Fund. The Annual Women’s Spring Conference of the Western Pennsylvania Hungarian Reformed Churches was held on May 2nd in the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Pittsburgh. Ladies of our congregation participated. The Hungarian Reformed Radio Program of Pittsburgh received the net income of the conference. Dr. Eva Fabian was the speaker. Her lecture was on the women’s role in the Hungarian Reformed Church. The same afternoon, on May 2nd the Western Pennsylvania Branches of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America held their workers’ conference in the First Hungarian Lutheran Church of Pittsburgh. Baptism: Helena Renee, the daughter of Richard Ross and his wife the former Debrah Cheke was christened in our church on Mother's Day. Godparents were Paul Ross, Suzan Cheke and Nancy Cheke. Richard Ross is a career soldier in the US Army. May 30th was our Confirmation Sunday. Carol Horvath and Nancy Wargo were confirmed and admitted into the communicant membership of our congregation this year. May 30 was also our Memorial Sunday. On that Sunday we held Memorial Services in our cemetery. The newly erected cemetery gate and grave markers were dedicated during the service. McKeesport, pa. During the Easter Season we had three English Services and one Hungarian with the Lord’s Supper. On Easter Sunday after the English Sunrise Service breakfast was served by the ladies. Our Congregation was represented with a nice group of ladies at the Annual Women’s Spring Conference hosted by the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Pittsburgh on May 2. Mrs. Ethel Gorun, the secretary of our Women’s Guild said the English prayer. The May Fellowship of the McKeesport Churches was held in the Methodist Church of Boston. Mrs. Mary Fedor, a member of our Women’s Guild was the chairwoman of the Fellowship. Our Women’s Guild sponsored two Game-Parties and Bake Sales: March 28 and April 25. They will have a Spring Garage Sale and Bake Sale on May 22. Next month our graduates will be honored and the Women’s Guild will have a gift presentation. We remembered the mothers on Mother’s Day during a combined worship service at 10:30 a.m. The Sunday School gave a Mother’s Day program. After the worship service all the mothers were presented with a red carnation. At 12:00 noon a delicious Mother’s Day Dinner was served and prepared by the men for the members and guests of the congregation. May 20: The Sunday School and Youth Fellowship will make a trip to the Pittsburgh Civic Arena to see a circus. Mr. William Brindza is the sponsor of this trip. Funeral: Mrs. Alex Meszar, 83, on April 9. Her son, Alex, died a month earlier. Officiating were Rev. Kalman A. Gondocz, and Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy of Ligonier. ROEBLING, N. J. Holy Week was observed with the traditional services on Good Friday and the Saturday Preparatory Service. We celebrated Christ’s Resurrection with a Sunrise Easter Communion Service. This service was followed with an Easter Breakfast. We sorrowfully report the passing of Mrs. Esther Bartha on Sunday, April 14. May her family be comforted with the knowledge of her many good works in a full and generous life here on earth and by God’s promise of eternal life. TRENTON, N. J. Altogether 415 communicants took the Lord’s Supper at Maundy Thursday and Easter. The choir sang at both of these services under the direction of Mrs. Grace Baytel. The Women’s Guild and the Young Married Coupels Club decorated the church with flowers for the holidays. Rev. Gabor Nitsch from the New Brunswick Seminary was our assisting minister. Baptisms. The following children were baptized: April 11: Thomas Joseph, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennie Molnár. Godparents: Mr. and Mrs. John Molnár. May 2: Gregory Michael, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Robert Onda. Godparents: Mr. and Mrs. Calogero Amari. Also on May 2: Paul Joseph, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Heck. Godparents: Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Toth. Baptism and confirmation. Mr. Gary Conrad requested his baptism and confirmation at the Maundy Thursday service. He was instructed in our Reformed Christian religion by our pastor. Marriages. April 10: Leslie Honfi and Karen McCoy were united in Holy Matrimony in our church. April 24: Gary Conrad and Cynthia Matthias were married in the First Presbyterian Church of Morrisville, Pa. with the rite of the Hungarian Reformed Church, by our pastor, assisted by the host minister, Rr. Clifford Pollock. Funeral. The oldest member of our church, Mrs. Stephen Komlosy, Sr. was buried on April 15. She was 98. The May Women’s Conference of our sister churches was held in Perth Amboy, on May 2. Our women’s groups were represented by 23 members at the conference. Our pastor was the Hungarian speaker. The general theme of the conference was “What makes a church successful?” Mrs. Margaret Connor, a member of the Women’s Guild of our church was elected as the new president of the United Church Women of the Eastern congregations of our denomination. Next year’s conference will be held in Trenton.
