J. MAGYAR EGYHÁZ The Junior Women’s Guild had a fine Christmas Party at which members of the Lorántffy Society were their in­vited guests. The Bible Study Group, sponsored by the Junior Women’s Guild, got to­gether for the first time on November 22. They will meet on every second and fourth Monday of the month at 7:30 in Bethlen Hall. Everybody is welcome. The meetings are conducted in Eng­lish; the group will study the Gospel of John. Baptism: Jennifer Lorraine, daugh­ter of Robert Corrente and his wife, the former Carol Ann Kutcher, on No­vember 20. Jennifer is their seventh child. Weddings: John Allen Lazar and Betsy Marie Mack, on November 7; Thomas Nicholas Kane and Donna Lee Corrente, on November 13. Burials: Balázs Harcsa, 71 years old, on November 17; he was born in Kék­­csa, Szabolcs county, and was a past elder of the Carteret congregation. — Zoltán Yuhasz, 58 years old, on No­vember 22. DUQUESNE, PA. Our new social group held its first meeting on November 14. The name “Free Spirits Club” was selected for this group. Membership is open to single people, young couples and cou­ples young-at-heart. Their first func­tion will be the renewal of the church tradition of Christmas Caroling in the homes of church members, on Decem­ber 22 and 23. We are looking forward to a very fruitful future of this new organization in our church. Robert Cross is the elected chairman. Christmas parties will be held by the Sunday School, Cancer Dressing group, Women’s Club, and Branch 202 of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America. Santa Claus will visit the parties. Our Women’s Club sent a Christmas gift to every resident of the Bethlen Home in Ligonier, as it is traditional with our Club for many years. Christmas Season services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 23 with com­munion at 7:00 p.m.; Friday, Christ­mas Eve, Dec. 24 Candlelight Service at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, Christmas Day 9:30 Hungarian, 11:00 a.m. English Service with communion; Sunday 9:45 a.m. Hungarian, 11:00 a.m. English Service. Watchnight Service will be held o n Dec. 31, Friday night at 7:00 p.m. » Students of the Sunday School went to see “Scrooge” performed by the Mc­Keesport Little Theatre. The trip was sponsored by the Sunday School. MIAMI, FLORIDA Christmas worship service will be conducted by Very Rev. Tibor Toth. On January 9, 1977 the Rev. Paul Ferenczy will be our guest minisster. The American Hungarian Women’s Guild will hold a ball on February 5, 1977 at the DuPont Plaza Hotel of Miami, Florida for the benefit of the Bethlen Home, Ligonier Pennsylvania. McKeesport, pa. The Congregational Meeting held on November 1 elected the following of­ficers and elders: Chief-Elder: Julius Bakos, Vice Chief-Elder: John Canelle, Secretary: Andrew Panko, Treasurer: Sándor Nagy, Asst. Treasurer and Fi­nancial Rec. Secretary: Steve Balogh, Rec. Secretary: John Kontz, Auditors: Margaret Panko and Rose Gerzsenyi. Elders - Class 1979: Julius Bakos, Ed­ward Jordanhazy, Joseph Mészár, An­drew Sotak, Joseph Szarka. Their office will begin with January first. On Thanksgiving Day we had English Service at 10:00 a.m., Hungarian at 11:00 a.m. November 28: First Advent Sunday. The Lord’s Supper was served on both services. During the English Service we had a short candle light ceremony with the participation of the conforma­tion classes. December 10: The Women’s Guild had its annual Christmas Party in the Red Bull Inn with exchanging gifts. The minister and his wife were the honor guests. Worship Services during the Christ­mas season: December 23: English Ser­vice with the Lord’s Supper at 7:00 P.M.; December 24: Combined Christ­mas Eve Candle Light Service at 7:00 P.M.; December 25: Christmas Day. Lord’s Supper. English Service at 9:30 A.M., Hungarian at 11:00 A.M.; De­cember 26: Worship Services at the regular times. Funeral: Mrs. Mary Arokhaty, a for­mer president of the Women’s Guild died unexpectedly on December 5. Fu­neral service on December 9 in our church. She was a native of Leechburg, Pa. Born November 20, 1919. May God comfort the family. ROEBLING, N. J. On October 31 the Women’s Guild sponsored a Halloween Party for the Sunday School children. The youngsters 13 had a fun-filled afternoon playing games and feasting on treats. On Sunday, November 7 the women of the church held an Autumn Church Dinner which featured homemade noodle soup. They had spent the pre­vious Tuesday evening preparing the noodles. The Dinner was a great suc­cess with all tickets sold and a profit of $506.22. We were happy to have many new people attend this event. It is with sadness we report the passing of Mrs. Margaret Kollár on Wednesday, November 17. A memorial service was held on Friday, Nov. 19 and the funeral took place on Saturday, Nov. 20. We thank the Lord for Mrs. Kollár’s long and vigorous life and extend our heart-felt sympathy to Mr. John Kollár. On Friday, November 19, we held a kolbász sale which netted a profit of $397.70. In this Thanksgiving season we in­deed give humble thanks to God for His gracious gifts to us. In addition to our own Thanksgiving Sunday Service, several of our members joined in a community Thanksgiving service at the Florence United Methodist Church during which time Rev. Patch delivered the sermon. We give thanks to God and pray for his love and grace to be shared by all.
