10 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ The yearly Sunday School Picnic was held on July 13th in Renzie Park. The dedication of two Clergy Chairs took place on Father’s Day. They were donated by Mrs. William Toth in memory of her husband, Mr. William Toth, a former chief-elder, who died in 1969. Funeral: Mr. Gabor Szilagyi, on May 29. He was born in 1892 in Botpalád, Hungary. PERTH AMBOY, N. J. According to the tradition of our church we observe the Sacrament of the Holy Communion on the first Sunday of every month. This month of June was not an exception either. Our guest minister at this occasion was a close relative of one of our church members Rev. Jerry Johnson visiting in this eastern area of the United States from the state of Missouri. We are very grateful for his assistance. On this same Sunday afternoon our pastor, chief-elder and vice chief-elder has started on their way to Ligonier, Pa., to participate in the upcoming Synod meeting, which was to discuss the proposed new By-Laws of the denomination. The meeting was enjoyable and fruitful. On June the 5th, Mrs. Balázs Illés and her daughter and family invited the members of the Senior Women’s Club for a fellowship into their house. We are very grateful for the expression of their love toward each one of us. On June 8th our English church service was conducted by the members of the Christian Youth Fellowship, remembering the Sunday as Children’s Sunday in our Christian Calendar. Those participating in the service were as follows: Miss Cathy Bérezik, Miss Amy Clayton, Miss Dorreen Damoczi, Miss Rosemary Karmazsin, Mr. Russell Bérezik, Mr. John Niemiera and Mr. William Sabo Jr. We are very grateful for their service and we would like to express a special thanks to our advisors for their work preparing this whole service. Our advisors are Mr. and Mrs. Andrew C. Lovász. On this same Sunday at 3:30 p.m. God has called us together again to celebrate the union in Christian marriage of the Lovely couple Miss Cynthia Kasay and Mr. Gary Ziznewski. May the Almighty God bless them as they continue to live in unity with each other and with God. We would like to call the attention of all of our members to the fact, that our Church will sponsor a Vacation Bible School this Summer starting on June 30. We would like to ask all the parents and grandparents to encourage their children to participate in this Bible School. Especially we urge those parents whose children will be attending Confirmation class in the near future, because the children will not be accepted to the class is they have no prior religious education. Vital Statistics: Baptism: The son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Deak, Christopher Joseph; the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Cairns, Todd William. Funerals: At the age of 77 the long time faithful member of our church Mr. Joseph Cinkota. May God comfort those who are in sorrow. ROEBLING, N. J. Church activities slowed down as summer approaches. We still had a few successful Kolbász Sales which is very popular within the whole area. On Father’s Day within a very nice service we remembered the fathers when the Sunday School children greeted the fathers with a short program. This day was also the last day of Sunday School, before the long waited summer vacations. On June 29 our Annual Picnic was held on the beautiful picnic ground. Unfortunately the weather was not ideal for the picnic, which kept many of the regular attendants away. The family picnic was held on Sunday, July 13th. Preparing for the 60th Anniversary, the surroundings of the Church, the steps and other minor preparations were made. Our Youth Fellowship is active in the Recreation Program organized by the Township Ministerium. Trips to the beach and lakes around the area are very popular. Also films and other programs are offered. Our brother Frank Nagy is in the hospital and is getting better after a stroke he had. Please remember him and our other sick brethren in your prayers. TRENTON, N. J. Baptism: Amity Rebecca, the child of Mr. and Mrs. George Payran, was baptized on June 22. Godparents: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fischer. The Men’s Club annual scholarship awards were given this year to Garry Poedubicky, Denise Levandusky, Irene Pandak and William Ford. Mr. Joseph Jenei, the president of the Men’s Club, presented the scholarship checks ($100 dollars each) to the recipients at the Father’s Day English worship service. Mr. Stephen Ture with the help of Mr. Robert Fackina, custodian, Mr. Andrew Ture, assistant treasurer, and Mr. John S. Toth, elder, has totally remodeled the meeting room in our school. Our most sincere appreciation to elder Ture and his helpers for this great project. New draperies for the remodeled meeting room were bought by the Lorantffy Society. Many thanks to our hard working women, also. As a project for this year, the exterior of the school and the interior of the parsonage have been painted. The exterior of the church and the parsonage also will be painted during this summer. The elders and their wives remembered with a “surprise party” the wedding anniversary of our minister and his wife, and also our pastor’s birthday. Many thanks for this kindness.
