12 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ we dedicated our new choir robes in our church, after which our choir presented their Christmas Cantata. On New Year’s Eve following worship service, our church sponsored a dinner dance which proved very successful, even if the attendance was lower than in the previous years. The chairman of the dinner dance was Mr. Steve Katko. It is very sad to note this last month of the year when we had bid farewell to a small per cent of our members. Our departed were as follows: Mr. Michael Sztropkai at age 91, Mrs. Susie Mező at age 81 and Mr. John Szabó at age 66. Statistics from the past year: births 15, funerals 15, marriages 11. The date of our annual Congregational Meeting is unknown at the present, but a letter of information will be sent to each of our members. HUNGARIAN COOK BOOK Sixth Edition Order from: THE WOMEN’S GUILD 331 Kirkland Place Perth Amboy, N. J. 08861 $1.00 — Handling and Postage $.25 TRENTON, N. J. All the holiday services were well attended, but especially at the Christmas Eve English service the church was capacity full. The Sunday School program during the worship service was very impressive and meaningful. It was arranged by the superintendent, Mrs. Geza Kuronya, and the teachers. The performance of the choir under the direction of Mrs. Grace Baytel was excellent. At the Christmas party, after the worship service, our custodian, Mr. Robert Fackina as Santa Claus gave the gifts to the children. Our assisting minister at the Christmas Day services was the Rev. Leo Forsberg, pastor of the Christ Presbyterian Church in Trenton. 250 communicants attended the Lord’s Table. The Lorantffy Zsuzsanna Society gave $500.00 as their Christmas gift to our church. The beautiful Christmas tree in the church was donated again by Mr. and Mrs. Edward Matthias, Sr. It was decorated by the Young Married Couples Club. Our sanctuary was also decorated by poinsettias, donated by the family of Mrs. Andrew Kerekes in memory of Mr. Andrew Kerekes, and by the Women’s Guild. A group of the confirmed youth visited elderly Hunngarian women and men in our local nursing homes. The youth sang and presented them with a little flower gift. Baptisms. On December 22nd the following three children received the sacrament of Holy Baptism: Tara Lynne, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Boyer; Godparents: Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Williams. Valerie Kay, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Soraci; Godparents: Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Toth, and Pollyanne Sarah, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brazina, whose Godparents are Mr. and Mrs. Anthony C. Beke. Funeral. Mrs. Anthony Beke, Sr., the mother of our controller, Mr. Anthony S. Beke, and the grandmother of our chief-elder, Mr. Anthony C. Beke, was buried on December 24th. YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO Our Christmas season was blessed by God both spiritually and materially. The members of our congregation filled the church on Christmas Eve and also on Christmas Day. About 65% of those who have the right to take Communion appeared before the Lord’s Table. On November 10th we observed Orphanage Sunday. The Rev. Kalman Csia proclaimed the Gospel to our congregation on that Sunday. Also, on November 10th, Sunday evening, we celebrated the 8th Anniversary of our Radio Services. On this occasion Dr. Alexander Haraszty, from Atlanta, Georgia, was our guest speaker. The Lord’s Table of our church last October received new decorations. Beside the open Bible we had a wooden cross and two wooden candleholders. The wooden cross and the wooden candleholders were exchanged and a brass cross and two brass candleholders were set on the Lord’s Table. Those new symbols were received by the Rev. Alexander Marton and his wife, Jolán Dudás, from their children, on the occasion of Rev. Alexander Marton’s 60th anniversary in ministry and the 40th wedding anniversary. In turn they have donated it to the church which was built during their service. The members of the congregation accepted these memorial gifts and with true thanksgiving toward the retired pastor and his wife, set it on the Lord’s Table. The Bible study started in October is continuing. Even though we can not complain about the number attending, we still hope that even more persons will attend.
