Confirmation Class examination shall take place on Sunday, May 26th and their first holy communion will be at Pentecost. The members of the Hungarian Evan­gelical Reformed Church are preparing for a Mortgage-Burning Celebration! By the grace of God, we were able to liquidate the 65 thousand dollars mort­gage on our Calvin Hall and with this make our Church free of debt. To express our gratitude a Thanks­giving Service will be conducted in our Church on Sunday, May 12th at 10:30 A.M. This will be followed by a Dinner- Dance, to be held on Saturday, May 18th starting at 3 P.M., in our Calvin Hall on Third St., Bethlehem, Pa. A cordial invitation is extended to the Pastors and members of our Hun­garian Churches, also to the members of our Beneficial Societies, and to all our Friends, to this our celebration. CARTERET, N. J. The Junior Women’s Guild sponsored a very successful Easter Hat Interguild Social on April 4. At the invitation of the College of Theological Doctors and the Institute for Confessional Studies Pastor Dr. Harsanyi spent two weeks in Hungary. In Debrecen he lectured on the history of Hungarian Reformed churches and people in America and discussed the possibilities of the preparation of writ­ing their history. The lecture was at­tended by the faculty and student body of the Reformed Theological Seminary. In Budapest, the staff of the Institute for Confessional Studies heard a talk by Dr. Harsanyi on the Reformed/Ro­man Catholic Consultation — now in its eighth year — in the United States. The Rev. Andrew Hamza and the Rev. Dr. Andrew Kosa supplied the Carteret pulpit during his absence. Wedding: Franklin E. Goshy and Helen Trencsenyi, on March 23. Funeral: Mrs. Irene Varga Novabil­­sky, on March 20. These services were conducted by Bishop Dezső Ábrahám. DUQUESNE, PA. Funeral: Louis Pomaj, a faithful member of our church for many decades was buried from our church, in our cemetery on April 2nd. Church council introduced “coffee­time” after the English service. Mem­bers are invited to stay after the service for a cup of coffee, or tea, and Chris­tian fellowship. This effort met with great success. Our youth fellowship and the Home­stead church’s youth fellowship recorded a youth worship service to be aired on the “Hungarian Reformed Radio Pro­gram” of this area in May. McKeesport, pa. The installation of the minister will be on April 21. The Installation Wor­ship Service begins at 4:00 P.M. The Banquet starts at 6:00 P.M. The Worship Services for the Easter holy day were well attended by the members of our congregation. Seven young members of our congre­gation were among the 23 thousand who walked for the “March-of-Dimes”. They went all the way, completing the 20 miles. They earned about $150.00. Their names are: Daniel Arokhaty, Patty Craven, Tünde Gondocz, Enikő Gon­­docz, Chris Szarka, Tammy Szarka and Elizabeth Szarka. Community Good Friday Service was held at Sampson’s Mills Presbyterian Church from 12:00 noon to 3:00 P.M. The theme was the “Seven Last Words from the Cross”. For the segment “It is Finished” Rev. K. A. Gondocz was as­signed (2:10-2:35 P.M.). Soloist for that segment was Mrs. Louis Jardan­­hazy from our church. The Women’s Guild also plans a Garage-Sale for the month of May. PERTH AMBOY, N. J. The pastor of the church resigned March 31st and accepted the call of the Detroit-Allen Park, Mich, congregation, where he will assume his duties June 1st. His gratitude was expressed to the members of the congregation for their wonderful cooperation during his 20 years of service in Perth Amboy, N. J. Many members of our church plan to attend the “Annual Women’s Con­ference” Sunday, May 5th in Charles­ton S. L, N. Y. A spring dance is scheduled for May 18th, Saturday by the Women’s Guild. The Senior Confirmation Class mem­bers’ examination will take place on Ascension Day, May 23rd and they will participate in their first Holy com­munion at Pentecost. The Easter holiday brought out many of our members and friends. Invitations to our Annual Women’s Conference were sent out to all churches in the area: the Magyar Egyház pub­lished it in the last issue and we hope to have a memorable conference on Sunday, May 5th. On Palm Sunday our church was decorated by beautiful flowers donated by the Women’s Guild. Baptism. The twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. William Kraemer, Richard Henry and Steven Edward, received the sacra­ment of Holy Baptism on March 17th. Their godparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Catalfamo. Marriage. Mr. John Eves and Miss Judith Parrey were united in Holy Matrimony on March 30th. Their wit­nesses were Mr. Ronald Jones and Mrs. Donna Seplavich. Funerals. Mrs. Nicholas Vágott, the vice president of the Lorantffy Zsu­zsanna Society, was buried on April 2nd. Mr. John Dani was buried on April 9th. The Young Married Couples Society was selling flowers for Easter with a great success. The Women’s Guild had a bake sale on April 6th with a good financial re­sult. A layman Sunday was held in our church on March 31st by the following members of the Young Married Couples Society: John Waldner sermon, Mrs. Faith Catalfamo Bible reading,, Mrs. Ivy Tobin prayer,, and Gabriel Csapó prayer. This was a very edifying ser­vice for our congregation. Our report for the Easter celebration will be in the next issue of our maga­zine.
