Holy Communion for Lent was observed in our congregation on the first Sunday in March. The participation was satisfying, but many of our members stayed away because of their sickness (cold). To honor our elders and the Sandors and Jozsefs of our congregation we held the Annual Dinner, which was a success. This was the first occasion that we greeted our newly elected elders and dedicated our Honorary elders with a Diploma of Recognition. Those honorary elders were: Steve Wargo, Frank Nagy, Charles Koppányi, Joseph Bernath, John Koszorús, and Alexander Gyárfás. Most of them served as leaders of our church for long years. Also on this same dinner we presented the newly elected officers of the Young Women’s Guild, who are: Mrs. Susan Torok honoray president, Mrs. Georgianna Harkel president, Mrs. Elizabeth Soltész vice-president, Mrs. Jean Somogyi, Jr. secretary, and Mrs. Helen Bordash treasurer. The noodle makings we started in this year did not ceased in March either, and brought close to $200.00 profit, which will be handled in a different account, and will serve the Anniversary Fund. Here and now we would like to thank all our members for their faithful support which made possible such a large profit. We also held a Kolbász sale this month, which overcame all previous preceeding income from it. We hope that with the help of our members the good Hungarian kolbász will be made by our church for long years to come. The Youth Fellowship was also on the move, held a Cake Sale, which brought in $46.60 profit, which went toward the Conference Fund of the Bethlen Youth Federation. We will inform every BYF member very soon about the Conference to be held on the Labor Day Weekend. STATEN ISLAND, N. Y. The church services are being held every Sunday as usual, with Professor August J. Molnár as the supply Pastor. The Easter Holiday Services and the activities will be mailed to the church members. The members of the Women’s Guild are making preparations for the annual Womens’ Conference which will be held in our church on May 5. The parsonage renovations will be completed soon. Used and still servicable furniture will be gratefully accepted to help furnish the parsonage. Call the members of the Board of Elders if you have such items available. TRENTON, N. J.
