Worship Services during the holidays: December 24, Tuesday at 7:00 P.M. combined Candlelight Service with the participation of the Sunday School and confirmation classes. The soloist will be Mrs. Louis Jardanhazy. December 25, Christmas Day English Service and Lord’s Supper at 9:30 A.M. Hungarian Service and Lord’s Supper at 11:00 A.M. December 26, Thursday at 11:00 A.M. Hungarian Service. December 31, New Year’s Eve combined service at 7:00 P.M. January 1, New Year’s Day at 11:00 A.M. combined service. December 22, Sunday atemoon from 2:00 to 5:00 caroling in groups. The Women’s Guild held its Salad- Bar and Card-Party on Nov. 20. They had a very successful evening. They netted over 1400 dollars. During the four Advent Sundays we are collecting canned food for the needy families. The distribution will be by our youth groups. The annual congregation meeting will be on January 26. We would like to inform all of our members of the Perth Amboy Magyar Reformed Church of the decision of the church council regarding a past church law forbidding couples of mixed marriages to participate in Holy Communion in our church. It is our feeling that one who sincerely desires to participate in Christ’s freely offered body and blood should not be denied. Therefore, anyone who has been denied Holy Communion in the past should feel free to participate in the elements with us from this day forward. Order of the services at Christmas Season are as follows: December 15-23: Holy Communion for the sick and shutin will be served if the members contact the pastor; Tel. 442-7799 or 442- 4008. December 20 and 22: Christmas Caroling by the Christian Youth Fellowship. December 24: During the English service our Choir will participate in the service with their Christmas Cantata. December 24: Christmas Eve, at 7:00 P.M. we will have a combined church service. December 25: Christmas Day our English church service with Holy Communion starts at 9:00 A.M. Hungarian Church Service at 11:00 A.M. also with Holy Communion. December 26: Hungarian Church Service at 10:00 A.M. December 31: New Year’s Eve our combined church service will start at 7:00 P.M. With the beginning of Advent the Roebling Church began its preparations for the Christmas holidays. Our supply minister for the first two Sundays of December will be Rev. Kosa. On Sunday, December 22 we will have as our guest minister Gabor Nitsch who is attending Union Theological Seminary in New York City. Rev. Nitsch who is a native of Transylvania came to this country recently from Israel where he lived and attended the university for three years. Our Christmas season schedule is as follows: Tuesday, Dec. 24: Caroling by our Sunday School children who will visit the homes of the congregation beginning at 12:00 noon; Christmas Eve Services at 7:00 P.M., combined. Wednesday, Dec. 25: Christmas Services with Holy Communion; 9:30 A.M. English, 11:00 A.M. Hungarian. Thursday, Dec. 26: Second Day of Christmas Services, 10:00 A.M. Hungarian. Tuesday, Dec. 31: New Year’s Eve Services, 7:00 P.M., combined. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1975: New Year’s Day Services, 10:00 A.M., Hungarian. Funeral: Mr. John Koszorús who died on Sunday, November 30, 1974 at the age of 78. May God bless the memory of this long time member of our church. STATEN ISLAND, N. Y. The congregational meeting approved the contract for the repainting of the inside of the church. This work was completed recently and the project of repainting the church hall and refinishing the floor is expected to be completed by Christmas. The annual church bazaar was a success and provided a net income of $1,590. In December the Women’s Guild had two programs, a Chinese auction and a Christmas party. The latter was arranged at a restaurant for members and friends. Christmas worship services: Dec. 24 at 8:00 p.m.; Dec. 25 both services at ten and eleven o’clock with Lord’s Supper; on Sunday, Dec. 22 as the closing part of the eleven o’clock service, the Sunday School children will present their Christmas program. TRENTON, N. J. Holiday services. Christmas eve: Hungarian at 6:00 p.m. and English at 7:00 p.m. with the participation of the Sunday School and the choir. Party for the Sunday School children will follow the services in the school. Christmas day: Hungarian service and Holy Communion at 9:00 A.M. and English service and Holy Communion at 11:00 A.M. The choir will sing at both services. Christmas parties were held on December 7th by the Women’s Guild, on December 14th by the Young Married Couples Club and December 15th by the Lorantffy Zsuzsanna Society. New Year’s Eve: Hungarian-English service at 7:30 P.M. New Year’s Day: Hungarian service at 9:30 A.M., English at 11:00 A.M. Baptism. Amy Elizabeth Stella, the child of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Stella, was baptized on November 24th. Godparents: Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Carlani. Marriage. Mr. Thomas Sabo and Miss Marla Tadlock were united in Holy Matrimony on November 23rd. Witnesses were Michele Hargreaves and Michael Wiesnik. Funerals. December 5: Mr. John Koszorús and Mrs. Alexander Nyiri. The Hungarian Federation of New Jersey commemorated the 1956 Hungarian uprising on November 22nd in our school. The distinguished guest and speaker of the event was Mr. Tibor Tollas, poet and writer, from Europe. Layman Sunday. On December 8th the following members of the Men’s Club took part in the English service: Mr. Louis Parrey, speaker, and Mr. John S. Toth and Mr. Geza Kuronya who led the congregation in prayer. Our Sunday School children every year in Advent are sending their offering to India, helping a missionary couple, the Rev. Joseph Matthew and his family. This year the Women’s Guild also contributed $50.00 for this noble cause and another $50.00 to help our flood disaster-suffered Hungarian brethren in Chaco, Argentina.
