MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 11 NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS AKRON, OHIO Special worship services during the Christmas holiday season: December 22, Sunday 7 P.M. Candlelight service, December 25, Christmas Day 9:30 A.M. Hungarian worship service with Holy Communion, 11:00 A.M. English worship service with Holy Communion, Dec. 26. Holy Communion for the residents of the Lorantffy Care Center and other shut-ins. December 31, 6:30 P.M. English worship service, 7 P.M. Hungarian worship service. Our annual Congregational meeting will be on January 26th, Sunday, after a combined worship service. The clear income of our church bazaar was $1,326 dollars. Thanks for everyone who worked hard for the success of our church bazaar. 1974 was the greatest and most successful year in the history of our church. With the help of God we finished the construction of the Lorantffy Care Center. Our members donated more than 100,000 dollars to keep up our church and help to finish the construction of our Care Center. On December 15th the famous Mindszenty choir visited our Care Center and entertained our residents with beautiful Hungarian Christmas carols. ALLEN PARK, MICH. The newly elected officers of the Dorcas Guild were installed on Sunday, December 1. President, Camille Bosak; Vice Presidents, Betty Poletto and Corinne Csorgo; Secretary, Rose Wickers; Treasurer, Ethel Vig, Auditors, Betty Kish and Marge Kato; Chaplain, Irene Ambrus; Adviser, Margaret Abraham. The official oath of the new officers of the Golden Circle was taken on Sunday, December 8th. President Edward King, Vice President Jerry Vig, Secretary Helen Gayer, Treasurer Bill Veresh, Sunshine ladies Helen Veresh and Manci King, Chaplain Ken Parker, Auditors Emma Lucas and Rose Faragó, Social Committee Judy Silye, Julia Bányai, Olga Charboneau, Communication Committee Esther Nagy, Helen Veresh and Manci King. Thanks and appreciation is extended to the retiring officers of both organizations for their tireless efforts and faithful service. A pair of bronze flower vases were donated to the church in loving memory of Mrs. Jesse Pestemak, by her husband and children. May God bless her memory. We mailed to our members the Christmas holiday letters and list of services. Anyone who did not receive it, please get in touch with the church office. New Year’s Eve service is scheduled for 7:30 P.M. New Year’s Day at 11 A.M. English and Hungarian. New Year’s Eve Dinner tickets are available in advance from the church office and Donna P. Booth. All church organizations are asked to close their books by December 31st and submit them to the church council along with a brief summary to be published in the “annual report”. Membership “dues” reminder goes out to everyone. Only those names will appear on the voting list who are not in arrears with their modest church membership fee. Baptism: Jenifer Lynn King, daughter of Robert E. King and Carol Hendry was baptized on Sunday, Dec. 8th. May God bless the child and her loved ones. A used school bus was purchased to transport church members from Delray to Allen Park, also to be used by the Sunday School, Christian Youth Fellowship and all other organizations of the church. CARTERET, N. J. Most welcome visitors to the Thanksgiving Communion service on November 24 were members of the Perth Amboy Youth Fellowship; together with the Carteret young people a group of 30 came to the Lord’s Table. On December 1 a delegation from the Carteret Youth Fellowship attended the worship service in Perth Amboy conducted by their young people. The Junior Women’s Guild held a fine Christmas Party on December 6 to which members of the Lorantffy Society had been invited. An appeal was made and gifts collected for the benefit of Hungarian flood victims in the Chaco region of Argentina. A Christmas gift was sent to Mrs. Sándor Hegyi, widow of a former pastor. The baptism of Dawn Marie Miller, daughter of Clinton Miller and his wife the former Judy Varga is scheduled for December 8. Wedding: Michael Yeges and Anna Gyuresko took their marriage vows on November 23. DUQUESNE, PA. A Christmas Party was held by the Sunday School on December 15th, with great success. A Christmas Tableau was presented by the pupils and teachers. “Santa Claus” also visited the children. The Women’s Club held her Christmas Party on December 18th. Gifts were exchanged and an informal supper was enjoyed by all. Our Women’s Club sent Christmas gifts to the Bethlen Home’s residents this year again, as usual. The Cancer Dressing group held its Christmas Party on December 4th. A luncheon and gift to everyone was the focal point of this party. The youth fellowship and the confirmation class decorated the Christmas tree in the sanctuary. The same young people also participated in the Christmas Eve candlelight worship service, bringing the light from the chancel to the congregation. One representative from each organization also participated in the liturgy of this service. The youth fellowship from the Duquesne and McKeesport congregations will pool their efforts in a common program to strengthen both groups. Joseph Walker joined the advisors in this project, leading Bible studies and other activities.
