8 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ MAGYAR CHURCH THERE IS NOTHING IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD .... Message prepared for the dedication service of the new Lorántffy Care Center, Akron, Ohio, Sept. 15, 1974. Today when we are gathered together, here in the city of Akron, Ohio to dedicate this new Lorántffy Care Center we are all witnesses to the truth which is expressed in the Bible: “There is nothing impossible with God.” We live now in an age when people like to forget all about the Bible, and try to rewrite the history of the Christian church and do not wish to recall the times, when great and unbelievable miracles were accomplished. Let us remember today and forever, all the miracles recorded in the Holy Writ, all the wonders that God our Creator has wrought. Let us remember from the history of the Hungarian people, how God Almighty performed miracles when He sustained our ancesters and led them through many trials and is still with us even today. I. The first lesson we all must learn on this day, as we dedicate the Lorántffy Care Center is, that our God is Lord Omnipotent, who has power to create and with Him there is nothing impossible! The finest and best fortress of the Reformed Church is that our God is a sovereign Lord and everything in the universe is His work, therefore we should take this teaching of the bible very seriously. Recently the sad news of the death of Charles A. Lindberg filled the news media, as they remembered his first airplane crossing of the Atlantic Ocean in 1927 from New York to Paris in 33 hours. The other day news of a record flight was hardly noticed when the “blackbird” new type plane travelled from London to New York in one hour and forty minutes. If you take into consideration the flight of the astronauts around the earth and their trips to the moon and back again, at a speed which was unheard of a generation ago, you will understand, the Biblical sayings are all true and they should fill us with awe and bewilderment that “with God nothing is impossible!” Previously all the Hungarian Reformed Churches in the United States of America combined their efforts and built an orphanage and home for our aged brethren, the Bethlen Home, in Ligonier, Pa. This home was and still heralded as the “ONLY” charitable institution of our churches built by the sacrifice of God loving and God fearing, Hungarian Reformed Christians, to take care of the orphans and the aged. NOW, wonder of wonders, not by the cooperation of 125 other churches but by the Akron, Ohio church alone, and the help of a few neighboring churches, the miracle is before our very eyes. Thei Lorántffy Care Center is built and will be ready shortly to open its doors to the first 100 people who are already waiting to enter. I wonder how many really and truly believed in God and actually helped to accomplish this miracle, which from the beginning seemed impossible? Thanks and praise be to Almighty God who inspired the minister, The Very Rev. Tibor Dömötör, the leaders and members of this congregation and the many friends who believed that “NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD!” II. Another lesson we must take into consideration today is, that God and His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ should be the CORNERSTONE of this Center. If we build, we must build upon Almighty God and His commandments. Without Him the most beautiful buildings of the world will crumble. Happy are the people who planned and dreamed and worked for years and now stand ready to dedicate this beautiful new building to Almighty God, who inspired the hearts to build this heaven of rest for our aging Hungarian brethren. Just think, Almighty God knew before this building was ever conceived and built, that there will be a Lorántffy Care Center in Akron Ohio! Just think about it... He knew before your Pastor, and the church leaders here ever had their first meeting, that
