MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 15 NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS AKRON, OHIO On the day of Pentecost 126 brethren participated in the Holy Communion. On Trinity Sunday we confirmed the following children: Brian Cofer, William Cofer, Tibor Dömötör, Marika Egervári, Joseph Keller, Kevin Pfahler, Robert Rutherford and Susan Szor. During the month of June we bought a big commercial type refrigeratorfreezer for 1,341 dollars into our church kitchen. Next month we will air condition the church kitchen and the Fellowship Hall. On July 11th our Sunday School children will make a trip to Geauga Lake Park, on August 8 and 9 we plan a church bus trip to Washington, D.C. The day of our annual musical picnic is July 22nd, Sunday. The place of the picnic is the Saint Nicholas Park in Barberton. (1051 Robinson Avenue) The famous SZITTYÁI band will play and the well known Cleveland Hungarian Theatre Dance Group will dance on our picnic. We are giving away 500 dollars in prizes. For further information call: 666-4600 telephone number. Funerals: On May 21st we buried Mrs. Julia Kun, 78, who was a founding member of our church and a very faithful Christian until her death. In her memory the Kim family donated 1,000 dollars for our Lorantffy Care Center. On June 4th we buried Zolton Balogh, 51. May God comfort their beloved ones. Mr. and Mrs. Simon Adler spent 2 great weeks at the Holy Land. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Vukan celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in our church. Our minister was the official delegate of the Copley Kiwanis Club at the international Kiwanis convention in Montreal between June 24-28. We held an Orphanage Sunday on May 27th. The Rev. Kalman Csia, Ligonier was our guest minister. ALLEN PARK, MICH. On Pentecost Sunday the Lord’s Supper was administered at both worship services. A large group of high school graduates was recognized during the service and was honored at a special reception by our Dorcas Guild. The second annual Hungarian Bible School was planned for a period of two weeks, from June 18 to 29. This is much like the traditional summer school that so many of us studied in during the past. Much interest has been evinced by the Hungarian colony of the Detroit area in Wayne University’s plan to set up ethnic classrooms after the pattern of the University of Pittsburgh. In this time of heightened ethnic consciousness it is interesting to find so many third and fourth generation Hungarians who are concerned with developing this link with the historic past of our people. The Ladies Aid Society, ably led by its president, Mrs. Elmer Erdig, reports that its annual spring bazaar was a great success. The net income was $2,142.11. Many thanks to our fine hard-working Ladies Aid officers and members. From January 1 to June 9, 1973, our Church Register notes that we have had 9 baptisms, 3 weddings and 12 members deceased. Members received include 14 adults and 14 young people by confirmation. Baptisms: Kimberly Renea and Bethany Sue, daughters of Sándor and Vivian Rémiek, on May 27. Suzanne Colleen and Brian Allen, children of Joe and Diane Coffee, on June 3. Wedding: Richard A. Crutchfield and Mary A. Bald, on June 9. Witnesses were Ed and Sharon Crutchfield. Deaths: Julia Kamish died on May 8, Herbert C. Grundemann died on May 18. May the God of all mercy grant comfort to the bereaved. New Members (adults) who have entered our fellowship in 1973: Mrs. Mary Berghofer, Mrs. Diane Coffee, Miss Patricia Gassman, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Latwinski, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lokos, Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Marth, Mr. and Mrs. Nyol Motley, Mr. Kenneth Nagy, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Valint. Formal reception of members was held during the worship service on Mother’s Day, May 13. Our chief auditor, Mr. John Jakcsy, suffered a stroke in Hannibal, Missouri, while on vacation. We joined in prayer for his speedy recovery upon hearing of his situation. BETHLEHEM, PA. We held an Orphanage Sunday on May 27th. Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy, Superintendent of the Bethlen Home, was our guest speaker. We were happy to have our former member Sándor E. Chomos and his son, Sándor, Jr. worshipping with us on Pentecost Sunday. The windows on the church and the parish house were painted outside by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Biro. Many thanks for the good work. James Kovary, Jr. and Kathleen Kuttler were married on May 19 at the German Holy Ghost Church. Our pastor participated in the service. May God bless richly the newlyweds. CARTERET, N. J. On Pentecost Sunday the following young people, having confirmed the baptismal vows taken by their parents and god-parents, shared for the first time Holy Communion with the congregation: Bette Jane Balka, Foster Joseph Bartko, Lynne Marie Chizmadia, Richard Kevin Gibbons, Janice Marie Nagy. The confirmation service, on June 3, was followed by a brief reception on the church lawn. The Youth Fellowship invited the newly confirmed to join them on a picnic on June 24. Weddings: May 12: Roger Edward Williams and Bette Ann Duetsch; June 2: John Joseph Vytowich and Margaret Elizabeth Deak. At this wedding celebration a well received part of the order was congregational hymn-singing. Funerals: May 19: Alexander Perka, 63, born in Pocahontas, W. Va., a member for almost 50 years and a past elder; June 4: Béla Csutoros, 67, bom in Révleányvár, Zemplén county, an active elder. This funeral was in Flemington, N. J. DUQUESNE, PA. Wedding: Frank Toth Jr. and Deborah Melegari were united in matrimony in our church on June 2. On June 3rd the following young people were confirmed: Lynne Sabo, Suzan Shigo, Robert Bence, George Cutson, Daniel Kish, Daniel Shigo and Andrew Wargo Jr. They participated in their first Holy Communion on Pentecost Sunday.
