MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 15 noon dinner was attended by many with sizeable delegations from the sister churches. Among the many greetings Bishop Dezső Ábrahám conveyed the Synod’s congratulatory message, Mayor Michael Tóth spoke for the Borough of Carteret, and Chief Elder Leonard Sendelsky for the congregation. The day was planned by the Junior Women’s Guild under the leadership of Mrs. Helen Sheridan, president. Mrs. Helen Nemish was responsible for the decorations and for the arrangement of individual gifts: pins with the initials of each member. Mrs. Betty Matto wrote and directed a skit following the TV- show “Queen for a Day” who at this occasion was Mrs. Elizabeth Toth, the only surviving charter member. The only surviving past-president, Mrs. László Danes received a “praying hands” plaque. Two other past-presidents, Mrs. Balázs Biri and Mrs. John Bahush passed away three and one week respectively, prior to the celebration. Mrs. Frank Csizmadia, president, thanked for the celebration not only with words but with a gift of $3,000 to the church’s mortgage fund. During the 50 years the society’s gifts to the church exceeded $50,000. The Youth Fellowship cooked a pancake breakfast for the benefit of the BYF foster child project. Wedding: Menyhért Tóth and Miss Elizabeth Kocsi. Funerals: Mrs. Balázs Biri, Sr. (Esther Csorba) from Bély, Zemplén county on May 13; Mrs. John Bahush (Ida Varga) from Zsurk, Szabolcs county on June 1—in the absence of Pastor Harsányi Bishop Ábrahám officiated at this funeral. Pastor Harsányi preached at the joint session of the French and Hungarian Associations of the Order of the Hospital of St. John, in Paris, France. In his absence Dr. Andrew Kosa supplied the pulpit in Carteret. DUQUESNE, PA. Funerals: May 29th, Mrs. Mary Dakos, an honorary member of the Women’s Club; May 22nd, John Palagyi. Wedding: June 3rd, Sondra J. Fisher and Frederick S. Schwend. McKeesport, pa. The Dedication of our new church will be held on Sunday, July 23. The dedication service will be conducted at 4 p.m. followed by the dedication dinner at 6 p.m. Our members and friends are invited to attend. There will be no Sunday School during the summer months. However, we will have nursery every Sunday during the English Service. The last Worship Services in our present church on Sunday, July 16 will be held with Holy Communion. Preparatory Services will be conducted on Thursday, July 13 at 6:45 p.m. in Hungarian and at 7:30 p.m. in English. Funeral: June 5, Alex Marczin at the age of 67 and June 13, Joseph Laskay at the age of 85. May God grant them a peaceful rest and may He also comfort their loved ones. Baptism. May 28, Richard Christopher Suchant, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Suchant. Godparents are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Brindza. PERTH AMBOY, N. J. The Vacation Bible School this year will be held from June 26th to July 9th. Superintendent Mrs. Florencp Deák. Children from 4 to 14 are expected to attend. The members of the Women’s Guild attended an “Interguild Social” on Friday, June 16th in Charleston S.I. N.Y. The traditional “Family Night” gathering of the Women’s Guild was very successful on June 20th, in the Roosevelt Park. The Sr. Women's Club season closing “Chinese Auction” and social was held on June 18th in our Center. Members of the Women’s Guild, Club, and church attended the 50th Anniversary of the Lorántffy Zsuzsánna Women's Club in Carteret, N.J. on June 4th. The so called “Kleine Chor” of the Metuchen High School gave a concert of Hungarian and Romanian folk songs, spirituals and madrigals on Sunday, June 4th in our Center. The choir will tour Romania, perhaps Transylvania under the leadership of Mr. Bruce Campbell; Mrs. Cris Campbell is our choir director; Martha and Becky Dudich from our church are members of the choir. Statistics: Steven Joseph, the son of Frank Allen Berecsky and Clara M. Jankowski was born on April 19th, and baptized on June 11th. Marriage: Linda Kovács and Robert O’Connell were married on May 27th. Death: Mr. Joseph Rákos died on April 8th at 64 years of age. May God bless his memory. Attend divine worship services during the summer months regularly. The Church is air-conditioned. ROEBLING, N. J. The past month, we could say that it was “the month of visitations”. Our church’s delegations participated in our sister churches activities as the 50th Anniversary Banquet of the Carteret’s Lorántffy Zsuzsánna Nőegylet and on the Magoc Show sponsored by the Staten Island Church. We hope that we will see them also visiting our church’s Great Summer Picnic, which will be held on June 25th on our picnic ground. Our Young Women’s Guild closing meeting for summer was held on June 6. The Lorántffy Nőegylet had a very successful auction connected with their monthly meeting, when they chanced off a blanket donated by one of our church members. The Sunday worship hours in July and August will change according to our last years system. T.he English Service will start at 9:00 A.M. and Hungarian at 10:00 A.M. STATEN ISLAND, N. Y. On Father’s Day a united English- Hungarian worship service was held and followed by a Father’s Day dinner honoring the fathers and grandfathers. The Mrs. Alice Rodvansky and Miss Carolyn Kosac duo beautified the service. Children recited nice poems. The well-liked annual Strawberry Festival combined with Chinese auction was a real success on June 9. The Women’s Guild held a family night Social June 16 and all Hungarian Reformed churches of the vicinity participated to make this program a joint venture. A fine program made a good success. The Women’s Guild officers and members deserve a heartfelt thanks for their fine accomplishment to bring closer our fellow Christians. One of our honorary elders Mr. Andre Kutko was hospitalized for five weeks. The Annual Bazaar is the favorite affair of our people. We plan to have it on two Saturdays, September 30 and October 7. We invite all our members and friends to join us. The chance books will be for sale very soon. We call attention to our special request for our steeple rebuilding donations. The rebuilding estimate is $2,500 and a bronze plaque with the names of donors shall remind all of the generous help.
