I MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 11 Our beautiful Christmas tree this year was donated by Mr. and Mrs. James Bajzath. Many thanks for their thoughtful kindness. Our Congregational meeting will be held on January 15 and the results will be available in the next issue of Magyar Egyház. We wish all our dear friends and members a very successful, joyful and blessed New Year. STATEN ISLAND, N. Y. Our Christmas and holiday services brought spiritual and material blessings upon us. We had a very inspirational candlelight service with very animating participation of our Sunday School children. The huge Christmas tree was the gift of our devoted Young People Club. We hope that the wonderful spirit of Christmas will stay with us during the new year. The children carolers visited almost all families bringing the Christmas joy to the old ones. The Women’s Guild Christmas party was again a very well attended event bringing together many neighbors and friends at this fine occasion. Statistics for 1971: 1 child, Michael Charles Kish was baptized January 31, 6 young people: John Cutler, Patrick Fay, Jeffrey Nemeth, Judy Nemeth, Rachel Rodvansky, Robert Roudi were confirmed on May 31, after 2 years preparation. Of the Christmas season services, the Christmas Eve English service was the best attended. Altogether 280 communicants received the sacrament on Christmas day. The Sunday School’s Christmas program was held in the Church at the English service, on December 19th, with a religious program and it continued in the school auditorium with a musical program and dinner. The children offered their “Advent Bank” donations to the Christian missionary work in India. The church organizations, the Lorantffy Zsuzsanna Ladies Aid, the Women’s Guild, the Young Married Couples Club, had their usual Christmas Parties. The annual bazaar of the Women’s Guild on November 27th resulted in more than $1000.00 proceeds. Mrs. Elizabeth Katona, Mrs. Elizabeth Pandák and Mrs. Andrew Ture were the committee members. Mrs. Antal Mészáros, the president of the Lorantffy Zsuzsanna Society for many years, was presented with a plaque by the members for her excellent leadership and faithful work.
