10 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS AKRON, OHIO The representative of the Gideon Society made a wonderful speech about the distribution of the Bible in hotels, motels, hospitals, prisons and among our service men — on our May 9th worship service. We will confirm twelve children on our Holy Trinity Sunday services. Four on the Hungarian service, eight on our English service. Our annual Musical Picnic will be held on July 11, 1971, Sunday in the St. Nicholas Park. BETHLEHEM, PA. On March 28th we had Orphanage Sunday. The Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy was our guest minister. On May 9th we celebrated Mother’s Day. The ladies present received flowers. Two girls and four boys will be confirmed on May 23. They are: Tünde Gondocz, Carol Nemeth, Joseph Hegedűs, Stephen Hegedűs, David Nemeth and Stephen Toth. Birthdays: Mrs. Antal Jámbor, 93 in March; Mrs. Joseph Piltman, 79 in April. CARTERET, N. J. A rise in both attendance and donations was noticeable at all worship services between Palm Sunday and Easter; the number of communicants at the Holy Thursday evening service was twice as big as last year. A Hungarian bible study class is being conducted every Thursday afternoon in the parsonage with an average attendance of 12. The Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy, superintendent of Bethlen Home preached at both services on May 2nd. Public examination of confirmands will take place on May 20th; they will be confirmed during the 9:30 service on May 23rd. There are 6 boys and 5 girls in this year’s group. Ascension Day service will be at 7 p.m. (bilingual), Pentecost Sunday communion services at 9:15 in English and at 10:45 in Hungarian. Baptism: Edward John, son of Edward Michael Sadowski and his wife, the former Nancy Lee Nemish was baptized on April 25th. Godparents are Frederick C. Wissink and Miss Lynn Ullersberger. DETROIT-ALLEN PARK, MICHIGAN On Palm Sunday we observed the Rite of Confirmation and 25 were received into the communicant membership of our church, namely, John Vig, Laura Wickers, Paul Borbély, Judith Vig, Gayle Yuhasz, Tammy Ostrowski, Howard Schwager, Ronald King, Christopher Marth, Christopher Mei, Ernest Gayer, Andrew Moses, Graig Drys, David Toth, Judith Toth, Kate Huzdik, Barbara Huzdik, Judith Balogh, Barbara Nagy, Karen Dulla, Phyllis Mathia, Rita Miastkowski, Marie Boroznaki, Kimberly Csorgo, Lane Woliver. The Ladies’ Aid Society honored the newly confirmed and their parents and relatives with a dinner. Our Easter Sunday Services broke all attendance and offering records of the past. The sanctuary was not only filled to capacity but the corridors were also filled with worshippers of the Risen Christ. Our offering was $14,066. We are grateful to God for the abundance of His blessings! On April 25th we held our Annual Masonic Sunday. This was also recordbreaking in the history of our church. The profit on the dinner was $1,250.00. We thank all who participated in this splendid success. On April 29th we held a Card Party to help defray the expenses of our Sunday School. It was well attended and the financial success was assured. The officers of the Sunday School are grateful for the generous response. On May 6th, under the sponsorship of the Golden Circle Club, we held our Annual Family Night and Dinner honoring mothers. Mothers in attendance received mementos of the occasion and a very enjoyable evening was had by all. The Annual Spring Bazaar, given by the Ladies’ Aid Society, was held on May 14th and 16th with the usual success. Ascension Day Services will be held on May 20th at 7:30 p.m. May 30th is Pentecost Sunday and Memorial Day. Holy Communion will be observed at both Services. On June 13th we shall honor the young people of our congregation who are graduating from High School and College. The Dorcas Guild will present these graduates with special gifts. June 20th is Father’s Day and special services will be held honoring our earthly fathers and our Heavenly Father. Nicholas Fuller and Anita (Cookie) Tornai were married in our church on May 1st. Funeral: William Wargo, a former member was buried in our cemetery on May 8th. On Mother’s Day members of the Women’s Club participated in the liturgical part of the service. The Women’s Club staged a variety show “Around the World” on May 16th. May 23rd is Confirmation Sunday. Cathy Kennedy, Debra Kish and Ilona Shigo were confirmed, and received into communicant membership. Pentecost Sunday is the day of their first communion. On the same Sunday, May 30th, also Memorial Sunday we hold a memorial service in our cemetery. Newly installed headstones are dedicated at this occasion. The dedication of our new organ is planned for the Sunday of June 6th. Details will follow later. Our Vacation Bible School will begin on June 14th. McKeesport, pa. On Mother’s Day we held a combined Worship Service which included the Mother’s Day Program of our children. The annual Mother’s Day Dinner was prepared by the elders and some of the men of our church. On Ascension Thursday the Hungarian Worship Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. and the English Worship Service will be held at 7 p.m. The confirmation of our children will be held on Sunday, May 23 at 9:30 a.m. during the English Worship Service. Holy Communion will be observed on Pentecost Sunday at both Worship Services. Schedule of services: English at 9:45 a.m. and Hungarian at 11 a.m. Preparatory Services will be held on Wednesday, May 26: Hungarian at 6:45 a.m. and English at 7:30 p.m.
