MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 17 a dedication service and banquet on June 6th. Attendance during the Easter Season was, as usual, above the average. Our members responded conscientiously to the call of our risen Lord. Communion was administered on Maundy Thursday evening and on Easter Sunday. The Right Reverend Louis Nagy, Superintendent of the Bethlen Home is our guest speaker on April 25th. The Tri State area is celebrating the 75th diamond jubilee of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America on the 24th, a dinner-dance is being held at the Holiday Inn, West Mifflin, Pa. The neighboring Hungarian Reformed Churches to hold special services the following morning, our church is privileged to hear Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy. PERTH AMBOY, N. J. The annual conference of the United Church Women, Eastern Area is scheduled for Sunday, May 2nd, at 2 p.m. in our Church. All women welcome. The Women’s Guild will present all mothers in the church with a carnation on Mother’s Day. The annual Mother’s Day Dinner will be held in our center on Sunday, May 16th, 12 noon. The Women’s Guild is in charge of the arrangement. May 20th, Ascension Day at 7:30 p.m. divine worship service and examination of the confirmation class. The Christian Youth Fellowship will sponsor a show “Sure as you horn”, on Sunday, May 23rd. Tombstone dedication and memorial service will be held in our Calvary Cemetery, Sunday, May 30th. All services during the Easter holiday were well attended. Renovations on the parsonage have been completed, — new kitchen, new bathroom, and painting. Last “kolbász sale” was a success. The next sale will be April 30th. Thanks to all who helped. Cleaning of the picnic ground was started, and continues every Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please come to help. Mother’s Day dinner will be held on May 9th. It will be prepared by the men, to honor all mothers. April 24, congregational meeting was held to elect a new pastor. Result will be published in the next issue. STATEN ISLAND, N. Y. The Palm Sunday service was heart warming due to 17 Sunday School and Confirmation class children performed very timely chant. Miss Carolyn Kosa and Mrs. Helen Peterson, Sunday School teachers prepared with great enthusiasm for this Holy week. The beautiful flowers and traditionally palm leaves were donated by Miss Carolyn Kosa. The annual congregational meeting elected John Lovas as secretary. The Women’s Guild elected Mrs. Margaret Knorr as secretary in place of Mrs. Margaret Lewis. Deceased Frank Angyal at age 88. He was one of our founding members. Bishop Dezső Ábrahám participated on his burial. On the family request relatives, friends and mourners donated $424 in lieu of flowers towards our Church. A lasting memorial is planned by Church Council. Mother’s Day will be observed with the fine children song and following the united service by a dinner honoring the mothers, May 9 Sunday. Többen éltek az úrvacsora áldásával, mint bármikor egyházunk történelme folyamán (231 lélek). Egyházi bevételünk $1,100.05 volt. Április 18-án egyházi ebéden adta át a Márta Kör és a Dorcas Guild elnöknője lelkészünknek a gyönyörű új palástot melyet ajándékba adtak lelkészünk 5 éves akroni szolgálatának elismeréséül. A palást ára 270 dollár volt. Ft. Nagy Lajos volt püspök, a Bethlen Otthon igazgatója is megjelent az ünnepélyes palást átadáson és érdekes beszédben emlékezett vissza egyházunk elmúlt öt esztendejére. Lelkészünk március 31-én nagyhatású beszédet mondott a copley-i Kiwanis Clubban “Az egyház helye és szerepe a modern világban” címmel. A Bethlen Freedom Press kiadásában megjelent lelkészünk igehirdetés és imádságos könyve, melynek címe Kétélű Kard. A könyv címlapját Kur Csaba festőművész rajzolta, előszót irt Ft. Nagy Lajos v. püspök. A könyv kapható lelkészünk címén 3 dollárért, vidékre szállítva 3.25-ért Testvéreink figyelmébe ajánljuk. Keresztelés: Április 4-én megkereszteltük Kuchar Kathleen, Michelle-t, Kulchar Williamnak és Elaine-nek kisleányát. Keresztszülők lettek: Keller Nick és Jean. A kisleány Kulchar Tiborék unokája.
