12 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ appreciate this noble task for which God has called and chosen them. We can survive the storm of history and fulfill our historical mission only if we remain true to the goal, for which God has created us. Only then does our life and service possess purpose and meaning, when we not only work for local objectives, but rather perceive in everything the plan and will of God, which He has unmistakably revealed for us. This is the past, present and the future of our Church from God’s vantage point. Blessed are those who see and believe. Those who dream and complete the plans, those who have been given a calling and a mission by God! Tibor Dömötör Bishop Attends Service At Opening Of Congress, Washington, D. C. From year to year the National Presbyterian Church of Washington, D. C. sponsors a “service of intercession and holy communion” at the convening of the congress, which this year took place on Thursday, January 21st, 1971 at 8 a.m. in the new National Presbyterian Church, Nebraska Avenue, Washington, D. C. This event was attended by the following participating clergymen: The Rev. William R. Laws Jr., moderator of the UPC in the USA; the Rev. William A. Benfield Jr. moderator of the Southern Presbyterian Church; The Rev. James M. Bell from the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church; the Rev. L. C. Waddle from the Cumberland Presbyterian Church; Mr. Richard C. Pfeiffer, moderator, United Church of Christ; the Rev. Dr. Edward L. R. Elsőn, The Rev. Dr. Lowell R. Ditzen, host pastors of the church; and Bishop D. Abraham, Perth Amboy, N. J. Although the President did not attend, members of his cabinet, the White House, Congress and Senate took time out of their busy schedule to attend this divine worship service. Among the many worshippers it was a joy to see Paul St. Miklóssy, treasurer of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, and Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Sylvester. Eastern Classis Meeting The Eastern Classis meeting will be held at the Perth Amboy, N. J. Church on March 27, 1971. ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING February 28, 1971 Every year we join other American Protestant Communions in observance of “One Great Hour of Sharing”, which is scheduled this year for Sunday, February 28th. The Church World Service, relief agency of the National Council of Churches of Christ in the U.S.A., helps the victims of flood, earthquake, and disaster around the globe. This aid gave assistance to the thousands of Hungarians during 1956 and continues to help the steady flow of refugees even today. Your gift will help save lives. It will give some people a new start. It will aid some, so that they may help others later on. Please, attend divine worship services, especially on February 28 or any other day which will be set aside by your local church, when all the gifts for the “One Great Hour of Sharing” will be dedicated. Special envelopes were sent to our churches to distribute among our members. Take your envelope up to your church and the treasurer of the congregation should mail the collected donations to: Mission Fund c/o Mr. Albert St. Miklossy, Treasurer P.O. Box 121 Fords, New Jersey 08863 “As a guide, each wage earner is urged, by one American denomination, to give the equivalent of one day’s pay or more”, but any gift will be gratefully accepted. Dezső Abraham, Bishop Before one can hope to be respected by others, he must have reason to respect himself. * * * You’ll live a longer, richer, and happier life if you work more and worry less.
