16 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ Wedding: James Lewis, Jr. and Miss Linda Faust on June 13th. — The Rev. Louis Illés and Miss Dorothy Horvath on June 21st. The Bishop Dezső Abraham and the Rev. Earle Potts will officiate. Our Men’s Club has resumed its meetings at 7:30 p.m. on the first Friday of each month in the park adjacent to our cemetery. McKeesport, pa. Our Mother’s Day Worship Services were well attended. The Sunday School children presented a program during the English Worship Service. A dinner followed the Worship Services which was sponsored by the ladies of our church. Many thanks to the ladies for the delicious food. May God bless the faithful helpers. The following young people attended the Western Classis Youth Conference: Allen Jordanhazy, Debbie Orris, Keith Jordanhazy, Robin Fejes, Bruce Jordanhazy, Lynn Serfozo, Kareb Jordanhazy, Cindy Serfozo and the Pastor. Norm Banis was elected vice president of the Western Classis Youth Fellowship. Our youth are planning to attend the national conference. At the last -meeting of the Women’s Guild the following ladies were elected as officers: Mrs. Louis Járdánházy president, Mrs. John Varga vice president, Mrs. Joseph Szarka secretary (1126 Monongahela Bdvd., White Oak, McKeesport, Pa. 15131), Mrs. William Gavallér treasurer. Their installation was held on May 3 during the English Worship Service. We express our gratitude to the past officers. May the good Lord help the new officers in their services. Our Church Hall was painted with the cooperation of our faithful members. At the present we are renovating our Sunday School Building. Vacation Bible School will be held from June 15 to 26. Everyone is welcome. Some of our ladies and the Pastor attended the Song Festival of our sister church in Duquesne on Sunday, May 3. We enjoyed their hospitality and the fellowship of those present. Our thanks to the ladies of the Duquesne Church for the fine program and delicious refreshments. PERTH AMBOY, N. J. 20 attended this year’s Women’s Conference on Sunday, May 3rd in Roebling, N. J. from our church. The newly elected president, Mrs. Margaret Silagyi and secretary Mrs. Elsie Loki are from our church. The following young people were confirmed on Ascension Day: Alan Deak, Eddie Deffler, Rebecca Dudich, Michael Eldredge, Deborah Ezyske, Richard Hodan, Joseph Innamorati, Stephen Kasay, Peter Latkovich, Kathy Mako, Steve Orosz, Karen Tampa, Sharon Tampa, Nancy Thullesen, Karen Vargo, James Simpson, Jr. They were honored at our annual Mother’s Day Banquet. Statistics: Carol Ann Ambrose of Sewaren, N. J. and Robert McDowall of Roselle, N. J. were married on May 16th. Andrew Horvath from Várpalota, Veszprém County, Hungary, died on May 5th. He was 90 years old. May God bless his memory. On June 14th, Children’s Day and Hungarian Heritage Day, our guest minister will be the Rev. August J. Molnár. Our Summer Vacation Bible School is tentatively scheduled from June 29th to July 12th. On Mother’s Day, an electric mixing machine was donated for the use of the Women’s Club in honor of Mothers, Mrs. Antal Izso and Mrs. John Marincsak Sr. by Mr. and Mrs. John Marincsak Jr., our chief elder and his wife. We wish to express our special thanks for this very useful Mother’s Day Gift.” ROEBLING, N. J. The Confirmation of seven young people took place on April 26 during the English worship service. Confirmed were: Jeanette Bartha, Barbara Emry, Mark Kimble, Ruth Molnár, Michelle Sivadó, Kimberly Trainor and Joseph Varga. They shared in the Holy Communion for the first time on Pentecost. On May 3rd the 11th Annual Conference of the Church Women United of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America, Eastern Area, took place in the Roebling Church. Guests came from New York City, Cartaret, Perth Amboy and Trenton. The title of the conference lecture was “Reformed- Protestant-Christian”, given by the Rev. Dr. Andrew Harsanyi and by the former Bishop Nagy in Hungarian. On the same day, “Orphanage Sunday” was held in our church. Preacher at both worship services was the Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy, the new superintendent of Bethlen Home. On May 10, at a special congregational meeting the Rev. Paul Ferenczy was unanimously elected to become pastor of the congregation. STATEN ISLAND, N. Y. On Mother’s Day a united English- Hungarian worship service was held and followed by a dinner honoring the mothers. The Sunday School children recited poems. On Pentecost Sunday we had separate English and Hungarian services. Holy Communion was observed at both services. We buried one of our oldest members, Mrs. Peter (Helen) Szász, shortly after her 84th birthday, on April 26. Miss Donna Marie Hoagland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hoagland was married to William J. Healy in her church. The Chinese auction will be Friday, May 29, the annual Strawberry festival Friday, June 26. A Father’s Day dinner will be held June 21. YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO On Palm Sunday and Easter the Ladies Aid, the Yolanda Circle and the Men’s Club beautified the church with palms and flowers. During the Easter holidays 244 persons took communion in the church and 7 in their homes. On April 18th and 19th our Youth Group was the host for the Western Classis Conference. 15 members of the Youth Group attended, on May 3rd, the Ohio- Western Pennsylvania Youth Conference. On Mother’s Day the annual dinner was sponsored by the Youth Group. 160 persons were present. The profit will be used by the Youth Group to attend the Bethlen Youth Conference. During the English service on Pentecost the following newly confirmed young people took communion for the first time: Susan M. Bundza, Dawn D. Chepke, James M. Chepke, Gerald S. Guerriero, Kathleen M. Haggerty, Bonita L. Linden, Sharon K. Pallay, Laura Sabo, Debra A. Tatar, Shelley A. Vantell, Frank J. Varga and Mark J. Wellington. The newly elected officers of the Men’s Club are: Thomas Combs president, James Hohvart vice-president, Kalmen Haggerty secretary, Matthew Mrakovich assistant secretary and Charles Lakatos treasurer. On May 3rd during the English service we baptized Christopher Lee, son of George Chepke and his wife, Patricia Ann Carpenter. Godparents: Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Chepke.
