MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 19 NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS AKRON, OHIO Our next holly communion service will be on October 25th, Sunday. Our bazaar committee, under the leadership of Mr. Charles Beohme, is working hard and making the final preparations for our annual church bazaar. (November 14, Saturday.) Mr. John Sivo and Mrs. John Weber finished the work on our new auto­matic bell ringer. During the past month our minis­ter served in our Ligonier church, made speeches in the West Akron Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club in Ligo­nier, at the Hungarian October 23rd celebration in Akron and at the Pur­due University in Lafayette, Indiana. BETHLEHEM, PA. The dedication of the new social hall is postponed until next year when the 20th anniversary of the church will also be celebrated. New members: Mr. John Philip, Mrs. Irene Hegedűs, Mr. Louis Racz and the Unangst-Storm family with five children. Baptism: Peter, Walter Kipa on September 27th. Godparents: Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Dancsecz. Burial: Julius Kadar, charter mem­ber of the congregation, on October 5. CARTERET, N. J. During the absence of Pastor Har­­sanyi the pulpit was supplied by the Rev. László Hunyady and the Rev. Andrew Hamza. Upon their return from Europe Dr. and Mrs. Harsanyi were welcomed by the Lorántffy So­ciety with a gift. Flood Relief brochures and offer­ing envelopes have been distributed to all families of the congregation. Five young people participated in the B.Y.F. National Conference. The new president, Frank Papp, and the new secretary, Karen Papp, are mem­bers of the Carteret Christian Youth Fellowship. As of this Fall members of the Junior and Senior Confirma­tion Class will join the Youth Fel­lowship. Carteret will be host to the next Eastern Area Quarterly Youth Conference on November 8. Elder John Nemish, chief elder of the Eastern Classis, was the classis’ representative at the Directors’ Meet­ing of Bethlen Home in Ligonier. Baptism: Paul Hosti, son of Paul Jeges and his wife Elizabeth Hosti­­soczki, on September 20. Godparents: Leslie Kugler, Terence Connolly, Mrs. Ilona Farkas and Miss Linda Bar­­nocky. Confirmation class enrollment for 1970-71 is 21, 11 in the senior, 10 in the junior class. On October 4th we celebrated World-Wide Communion. 146 mem­bers received the Holy Elements, 7 members in their homes or in the hospital. On October 25th we held our an­nual Fall Fellowship Dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cross are our new Youth Fellowship Advisors. New officers were elected in September. Denise Danes, president; Valera Cut­­son, Denise Gougler and Ilona Shigo were also elected for various offices. John Darnay Jr. is the member at large for our group. Representatives of the B.Y.F. Alumni met on October 17th, at our church to prepare plans for the Alum­ni’s first Conference in 1971. McKeesport, pa. Holy Communion for new wine will be observed on Sunday, November 22 at both Worship Services. Orphanage Sunday was held in our church on Sunday, September 6. Rev. Louis Nagy, superintendent of the Bethlen Home was our guest minis­ter. Wedding: Mr. Eugene C. Buchleit­­ner and Miss Sally S. Simon were joined together in holy matrimony on August 15. May the God of peace and joy bless them with happiness. Baptism: Janice Lynn Austin, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Aus­tin, Jr. was baptized on September 13. The Western Classis Youth Con­ference was attended by the follow­ing young people: Norman Banis, Ka­ren Jordanhazy, Lynn Serfozo, Gloria Orris, Bruce Jordanhazy, Cindy Ser­fozo. PERTH AMBOY, N. J. The Pastor attended the General Assembly of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches in Nairobi, Ken­ya, Africa, (August 20-30, 1970.) Upon his return, the Women’s Guild, Sr. Women’s Club and Church Coun­cil held a reception in his honor to welcome him home; they also pre­sented him with gifts. The Sunday School Rally Day was held on Sunday, Sept. 27th. At that time, children received perfect at­tendance pins and awards and were promoted. The Jr. and Sr. Confirmation Class­es meet every Sat. from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Children 12 years of age, or in the 7th grade are expected to at­tend. Our new Choir Director is Mrs. Chris Campbell, from Westminster Choir College, Princeton, N. J. Choir rehearsal: every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. The Women’s Guild had a most successful “rummage sale” in Sept, and a “Grape Harvest Festival” in October. Plans are being made for the “Annual Christmas Bazaar”, on Dec. 6 in the Center. The Annual Conference of the Bethlen Youth Federation, was hosted by our group, at Camp Minisink, Stillwater, N. J.
