MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 15 CARTERET, N. J. Worship services during the sum­mer months will begin at 9:30 (English) and 10:30 (Hungarian). New Bread communion will be ob­served on August 2. The Children’s Day worship service was conducted by members of the Sunday School and was built around the salvation story expressed in well­­known hymns. During the closing exercises 6 students received “perfect attendance” certificates while 39 students were recipients of “Cross and Crown” awards for regular at­tendance; they missed not more than 5 sessions. A 17th year bar was given to one of the teachers, Mrs. Geza Lukach. The Sunday School, instead of having a picnic or party, will take a bus-trip to the Bronx Zoo on July 15. DETROIT-ALLEN PARK, MICHIGAN On June 14th we celebrated the fifth anniversary of the dedication of our church building. The events of this celebration are recorded in other article in this issue. We may mention that the celebration was very success­ful and the anniversary donation was $10,000. We wish to thank all who made the success of this celebration possible. Our congregation is grate­ful to the ministers, the representa­tives of churches and societies and guests who were in attendance. We thank the Ladies Aid Society, the Dorcas Guild, the Elders of the church for their work. May the bless­ing of God be on all who participated in this celebration. The Sunday School and the two choirs will recess during the summer months. They will resume their acti­vities on September 13. The Christian Youth Fellowship is making elaborate plans to attend the National Youth Conference in New Jersey. They are raising funds for the expense of the trip, like the very successful car wash project which was held recently on our church parking lort. Baptism: The daughter of Robert and Joan Szepesi — Denise Lynne. Godparents were Frank and Janice Demes — June 7th. Most of our organizations will re­sume their meetings in the fall. The Men’s Club however will hold its meeting the first Friday of every month in the cemetery-park. McKeesport, pa. On Sunday, June 7, we held a Con­gregational Meeting. The purpose of the meeting was our Church Building Program. As a result of this meeting, the Church Council was authorized by the congregation to select an architect and with him discuss, study and complete all the necesary pre­liminary sketches and plans for our new church. When all this will be done, the Church Council will take our Church Building Program to the congregation for final approval. At the last meeting of the Church Council, Andrew Fedor, Jr. was elect­ed treasurer of our Building Fund. Miss Debbie Orris was selected “Miss Magyar McKeesport”. Con­gratulations. Funerals: Mrs. Irén Gergely and Andrew Fedor, Sr. were called by the Giver of life during the month of May. Mrs. Gergely was a friend of our church. Mr. Fedor was a good and faithful member and elder for many years. He was also the treasur­er of our Building Fund. May God comfort their loved ones. Congratulations to our graduates— High School: Sándor E. Cbomos, Jr., Herbert Gibson and Robert Olyar­­nick. College: William Bryan, Sharon Kerti and John Olyarnick. PERTH AMBOY, N. J. On June 14th, the Rev. August J. Molnár was our guest minister; our “Hungarian Heritage Day” offering was forwarded to the Hungarian Studies Foundation. On Children’s Sunday, the follow­ing Sunday School pupils participated in the worship service: Cathy Bercik, William Sabo, Robyn Rhodes, Debo­rah Lipnick, Margaret Papatyi, and Diana Lipnick. The children raised $250 for the mission work in South America by selling fountain pens; also made a $500 donation to the Glory of God. Our young people had several “car­wash” projects, “coffee-hour”, and “cake-sales” for the benefit of the conference fund. They are making preparations for the annual National Youth Conference at Camp Minisink, Stillwater, N. J., over the Labor Day weekend. The Vacation Bible School this year was fairly well attended. Mrs. Florence Deak was the superinten­dent and the following teachers helped: Pre-School — Mrs. Lorraine Blaho, Mrs. Mary Dobos; Primary (1-2-3 gr.) — Mrs. John Boelhower, Mrs. Margaret Seeman, Mrs. Irene Gerecs and Mrs. Florence Deak; Junior (4-5-6 gr.) — Mrs. Lillian Banyacsky, Mrs. Betty Rhodes, Mrs. Ollie Hall and Mrs. Jean Literate. Confirmation and Hungarian — Mrs. Margaret Abraham and Mrs. Julius Király. The assistants were Jean Wright, Cynthia Banyacsky, Susan Toth, Sharon Orosz, Tommy Banyacs­ky, Nancy Varga. Two bus excursions were held to New York City to the Billy Graham Crusade; one by the Youth Club and another by the Women’s Guild on June 27th and 28th. Baptisms: David James, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bankó; Darlene Michelle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald A. Buda; Lori Lillian, daugh­ter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert R. Latko­­vich, Jr.; Edward Ernest, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward E. Egnatzky. May God bless the children and parents! Weddings: Carolyn M. Marincsák and Charles A. Majko on June 6th; Geraldine E. The Consistory suggested and the congregation unanimously approved to install an air conditioning unit in the church building. The plans are in the hands of a contractor and the cooling system will soon be complet­ed. No more excuse to stay away from church on hot summer Sundays. . .
