The proceeds were sent to our sister church in Uruguay. Thanks to our ladies for promoting the mission program of our church. World Wide Holy Communion Sunday was observed on October 5. Our annual bazaar will be held on Saturday, November 8 at our Church Hall. Everyone is invited and welcome. The fallowing children had perfect attendance in our Sunday School during the school year of 1968-69: Jeanette Bartha, Nancy Bartha, Christian Varga, Cherie Varga and Joseph Varga. Our Church presented them with a nice gift. Wedding: James Botiinger and Miss Joan Barbagalle were married in our church on September. God bless them with happiness and love. Burial: Alexander Koppányi passed away at the age of 50. May God comifort his loved ones in their sorrow. . .and, lo, I am with you always” (Mt. 28:20). STATEN ISLAND, N. Y. October is Loyalty Month. World Wide Communion will be observed October 12, Reformation Sunday October 26, Let everybody attend church after the long summer vacation. Our best known affair, the Annual Bazaar is in prepartion and gifts and donations are coming in plentifully. Our diligent women are to be commended for their untiring work. The very much needed repair work on the church building is still going on and we urge again our members and patrons to donate for this special project. Our pastor and his wife visited their home town, Budapest during their vacation and after a quarter of a century they could again attend services in their old Szabadság-tér Church. Many memories made this trip very emotional. YOUTH NEWS CANDID SHOTS FROM THE 1969 B.Y.F. NATIONAL CONFERENCE Camp Conestoga, Minerva, Ohio Two boys and two advisors were my only companions when I started out on the road to this year’s B.Y.F. National Conference. We went with mixed emotions, not knowing what to expect. Did we ever get the surprise of our lives! First of all my compliments to the host group, Youngstown for choosing this marvelous site. The lake — even with its nabby fishes nibbling at our toes; the peaceful surroundings — even with the high school bands sounding off at 4 p.m. the first night; the good accessability — even with its rustic finale of a dust road: the campsite was an excellent choice. Also the facilities were satisfactory. Boating, swimming, good size cabins, the bath-house, the lodge and the dining room, the loudspeaker-system that could be heard miles away, the beautiful cross Youngstown built, the football field, tennis-court and many other conveniences that one could not even dream of having in a camp were helpful in having a good time. Youngstown should be commended also for the good job of organizing the program. The well-printed pamphlets gave us a rich selection of “Did You Know?” quotations. I never knew that America was indirectly named after St. Emericus, a Hungarian prince, St. Stephen’s son! (Amerigo Vespucci derived his name after St. Imre). The activities, too, went on without noticeable hang-ups and we were fed on time and well. The members of the Youngstown Club — and I wish to include the Rev. Adorján — were extremely helpful and cheerful at all times, which made our Conference a success. Three cheers for Youngstown!
