MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 17 Y. F. 21 members from Perth Am­boy attended the Quarterly Con­ference on Sunday, February 4th in Carteret. On March 15th, in observance of Hungarian Independence Day, there will be a “flag-raising” cere­mony in the City Hall Park at 8:00 a.m. On Sunday, March 17th, at 3:00 p.m., there will be an indoor celebration by all Hungarian churches of Perth Ambov in Mind­­szenty Hall, Cortland Street. ROEBLING, N. J. The year of 1967 was a blessed, peaceful and a prosperous year. There were improvements in many areas of the church. The partici­pation of tlie members in Holy Communion was much better than previously. The Christian Giving of our members greatly increased. There was an improvement in the cooperation and helpfulness of the members toward our church. For all this, we praise and bless God. Receipts in 1967 were $16,363.49, expenses $11,738.62, balance $4,- 624.87. There were 7 baptisms, 1 funeral; 3 young people were con­firmed. Church Council for 1968: Steven Bajzath chief elder, Frank A'agy vice chief elder, John Kollár sec­retary, Joseph Bartha treasurer, Bert Somogyi, Jr. asst, treasurer, John Peter, Jr. controller. Women’s Guild: Mrs. Steven Takach president, Mrs. Frank Nagy 1st vice president, Mrs. Joseph Varga 2nd vice president, Mrs. Elmer Soltész secretary, Mrs. George Borclash treasurer, and Miss Jay Szinyeri controller. The annual Elders’ Dinner in honor of our elders was held on Sunday, February 11. Our guest speaker was Fr. Andrew Lapotoc­­ky. The Sándor-József Dinner will be Held on Sunday, March 17 at 12 noon. STATEN ISLAND, N. Y. The annual report presented at the congregational meeting on Feb­ruary 11 by Pastor Nyary was ac­cepted. The report commended the faithful services of the elders and of the officers of the church as well as of the Women’s Guild. Elected were the following of­ficers: Louis Kish, president, Ste­phen Albert, vice-president, Rev. Nicholas Nyary, secretary (as act­ing secretary), Stephen Nemeth, treasurer; elders: Albert Kish, Louis E. Kish, John Kosa, Sr., Alexander Kosa, Peter Macherow­­ski, Stephen Nemeth, Joseph O’­Donnell, John Rodvansky, William Roudi. To honor the newly elected of­ficers of all organizations the Women’s Guild sponsored the an­nual Installation Dinner on Feb­ruary 25. The Women’s Guild participated in a corporate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of Lent, March 3. The Sunday School continues every Sunday at 9 A.M. and we urge all parents to bring or send their children. Confirmation class meets every Saturday morning. We have 2 sen­ior and 6 junior students. The Women’s Guild had a social and a Chinese auction. YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO Vital statistics from 1967: 3 bap­tisms, 8 confirmed, 2 burials. Total income for the year 1967 including the $5,516 balance from 1966 was $27,487.29, expenses $22,- 068.71 (which includes $3,000 transferred to the Savings Ac­­coun), leaving a balance of $5,- 418.58. On January 18th Mrs. Goldie Oley, 53, was buried from the church. The comforting power of God lie with the sorrowing family. The Pastor would like to ex­tend his thanks to the Rev. Alex­ander Marton for serving at the Hungarian services during his stay in the hospital and during his recuperation. He also wishes to thank to the many signs of love toward him during his sickness, but most of all for the prayers said in his behalf. YOUTH NEWS EASTERN AREA YOUTH FEDERATION At their Quarterly Conference held in Carteret, N. J. on Febru­ary 14, the young people from the Eastern Area Hungarian Reform­ed Churches elected the following new officers: Margie Deak (Carteret), presi­dent; Lydia Varga (Perth Am­boy), vice president; Susan Hege­dűs (Pertli Amboy), secretary, (75 Highland Rd., Colonia, N. j. 07067) ; Bob Czarneczki (Tren­ton), treasurer, (326 Jersey St., Trenton, N. J. 08611) ; Bob Fenkel (New Brunswick), chaplain. Március 24: VILÁGSEGÉLY Az Egyházak Világsegély Szolgá­lata minden évben támogatja azo­kat, akik földrengés, árvíz, trópusi orkán, vagy bel-háboru és más ha­sonló elemi csapások áldozataként rászorulnak a segítségre. Ki tudná számon tartani a mene­külők millióit, akik vagy az egyik vagy a másik országból elhagyják hazájukat és uj otthon után nézve földönfutókká, szerencsétlen üldö­zöttekké válnak a világ országut­­jain. Szükségük van lakásra, meleg otthonra, munkára, mindennapi betevő kenyérre, orvosságra. 1956-ban sok magyart támoga­tott az Egyházak Világsegély Szol­gálata, akik ma már beleépültek Amerika életébe. Emlékezzünk meg azért erről és egy évben egy­szer — idén március 24-én vasár­nap — bőkezű adománnyal támo­gassuk a Világsegély Szolgálat munkáját.
