14 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ The Planning Committee began its preparations for the mortgage burning next fall. NILES, OHIO (Southside United Presbyterian Church) The Sacrament of the Holy Baptism was administered to Monika Rose, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale S. Ellis from Vienna, Ohio. (In his baptismal sermon the Minister told the congregation about St. Augustine whose mother Monika prayed incessantly for thirty years for the conversion of her son who, then, became one of the greatest bishops and theologians of Christianity). Two of our members have undergone surgery recently, namely Elder Harold Henninger at the University Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, and Mrs. Frank Juhasz, Sr., at the Northside Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio. Two of our young members have entered the nursing vocation, Miss Carol Ashton, who having been graduated by the Practical Nursing School is now being employed by the General Hospital in Warren, Ohio, and Miss Susan Siska, who has enrolled in the Nurses School of the Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Ohio. Dr. Sewell participated in an ecumenical service at the Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church in Rochester, New York where he shared the wedding service with the priest. (A unique ceremony, indeed, for the Communion was administered to the Catholic parishioners by using both host and wine). Another interesting experience for the pastor was at the Valley Baptist Church where he had been invited to assist the Negro minister in an all-Negro congregation to conduct a special service for the Football Squad, coaches, parents and cheerleaders. A Radio Sunday was held on September 22nd with a special offering to help undergird the broadcasting services provided by four area ministers (the Rev. Kalman Adorján, the Rev. Louis Becske, the Rev. Sándor Farkas and the Rev. Nicholas S. Sewell) every Sunday evening on Radio WPIC-FM, 102.9, Sharon, Pa. PERTH AMBOY, N. J. We celebrated Loyalty Month during October. W orld Wide Communion was observed on the first Sunday, Youth and Layman s Sunday on the second, Family and Guest Sunday on the third, Reformation Sunday on the fourth. We reminded our members to attend divine worship services faithfully. November 10th, Sunday, 2 P.M.: Eastern Area Elders’ Conference in our Trenton church. November 17th, Sunday, we shall celebrate the 65th anniversary of our congregation: divine worship services in the morning, thanksgiving banquet at 6 P.M. ROEBLING, N. J. The Rev. Bertalan Szathmáry was our guest minister on September 29. We wish to express our thanks for his services and very enlightening sermons. Our annual bazaar will be held on Saturday, October 26 at 7:30 p.m. Our friends and members are invited to attend. Mission Sunday will be observed on Sunday, November 3, at both worship services. Our guest minister will be the Rev. Kálmán Göndöcz from the Hungarian Reformed Church in Bethlehem, Pa. In His last wish the Lord commanded His Church to do its mission. Today the very same Lord brings to our attention the mission of our church and he commands us to witness to His saving grace and support the mission of our church from our substance. We ask our members to use their “Mission Banks” faithfully and return their donations on Mission Sunday. STATEN ISLAND, N. Y. The holy elements for World Wide Communion were donated by Miss Gloria Torzsas in thanksgiving for her recovery after a year-long illness. New Wine Communion will be on November 17. The Rev. August Molnár was our guest minister during the pastor’s summer vacation. Confirmation class is being conducted every Saturday morning. There are six confirmands in their second year of preparation. Miss Carolyn Kosa and Miss Susan Mackeroivsky are teaching Sunday School; there are 11 children. Gifts and donations towards our annual bazaar were very generous. Our untiring women are particularly to be commended for their work. Our former chief elder, Joseph Doch and his wife celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Prayers were offered by the Pastor in church as well as at the anniversary banquet attended by their three daughters (Mrs. Julianna Kerékgyártó, Mrs. Gertrud Sharkey, Mrs. Ethel Toth) and their families with many relatives and friends. YOUTH NEWS BETHLEHEM, PA. The Youth Fellowship elected these officers on September 8th: László Greczy president, Debbie Nemeth vice-president, Monica Ziegenfuss secretary, Pamela Nemeth treasurer. Plans were made for a Hoagie Sale on October 12, and a dance planned for November 22.
