MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 11 Funerals: William Lazar, 46, on September 25. In him the congrega­tion mourns its beloved and respected vice chief elder. Stephen Trosko, 55, was buried on September 29 and Mrs. Andrew Kun Sr., 83, on Octo­ber 13. DUQUESNE Worldwide Communion was observed on October 2nd. 182 members came to communion, 7 shut-ins received the holy elements in their home. Honorary councilman Balázs Miklós Sr. donated the elements. Baptism: Shirley Alice, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hegedűs, God­parents: Donald Czap and Carol Czap. Pastor Louis Illés was installed in his charge on Sunday, September 25th at a special service. Bishop Louis Nagy preached in Hungarian and Rev. Kálmán Adorján in English, Rev. Julius Paál offered the prayer. Minis­ters of the nearby Hungarian churches and members of the local ministerium were also present. The choir, under choir director Mrs. Ann Shigo parti­cipated in the service. Mrs. Shigo also sang a solo. The Women’s Club were in charge of the banquet following the Installa­tion Service. Mrs. Helen Szabó was the chairlady and Mrs. Helen Homoki was co-chairlady; many members of the Club participated in the prepara­tion. The officers of our Sunday School for the 1966-67 year are: Robert Kish, superintendent; Ernest Kovach and Irene Zeleznik assistant superinten­dent ; Charlene Nagy, secretary; Janice Horvath, treasurer and recorder of offering; Robert Russell, Supplies and properties; Francis Helmeczi, staff assistant-promotional aids; Shirley Stiver, organist. Teachers are: Alex Wargo, Eugene Bonacci, John Darnay Helen Sapos, Julia Nagy, Loretta Russell, Ruth Sabo, Barbar Revak, Mildred abo. Elected officers of the Women’s Club for the coming year were installed by the pastor at the September 21st meeting: Mrs. Marian Nagy, president, Mrs. Ann Lewis, vice-president, Mrs. Margaret Horváth secretary, Mrs Mar­garet Peclet, treasurer. On October 19th there was a covered dish dinner for the Women’s Club; it was desig­nated a guest night. October 9th, a delegation represented our congregation at the 40th Anniver­sary of Youngstown; the Rev. Louis Illés preached in Hungarian. October 23: Bethlen Home Sunday: the Rev. Kálmán Csia, overseer of the Old People’s Home was the guest speaker. PERTH AMBOY On November 6th holy communion will be held at both, the English and the Hungarian services. Members of the Christian Youth Fellowship will participate in a body. The Quarterly Youth Conference will be held in Carteret on Sunday, November 6th at 2 P.M. Our group will leave from the church at 1:30 P.M. Young men and women, come and participate in our conferences and activities! The second Fellowship Coffee Hour by the Christian Youth Fellowship will be held Sunday, November 13th after the English service in our Center. Our annual Thanksgiving Banquet will be held Sunday, November 20th, 6:00 P.M. in our Center. Please, make plans to attend and call your friends too! Make your reservations early! Thanksgiving Day worship service is scheduled for 9:00 A.M. Every year more and more members start the day right by attending worship service early in the morning. Come and bring along every member of your family! The annual Christmas Bazaar of our Women’s Guild will be held Sunday afternoon, December 4th. Beckman; Lisa Ann, daugh­ter of William Egry and Florence E. Ringled, born August 6th godparents Mr. and Mrs. László Kocsis; László Jr., son of László Kocsis and Arlene Egry, born September 6th, godparents Mr. and Mrs. Lajos Dobos. Marriages: János J. Gerecs and Irene Orosz on July 23rd; Jeffrey Schlatter and Elizabeth J. Kish on August 6th; Charles Sabo and Jolán Vig on Sep­tember 10th. ROEBLING Worldwide Communion Sunday wor­ship services were well attended. Holy Communion was received by 75% of the congregation. The holy elements were donated by Miss Lynn Mayberry. The following new schedule of serv­ices was introduced: Sunday School at 9:00 a.m., English Worship Service at 10:00 a.m., Hungarian Worship Serv­ice at 11:00 a.m. Funeral: Mrs. Charles Jakab was called home by the Giver of life in September. May God grant her a peaceful rest. May He also comfort her loved ones. STATEN ISLAND We resumed our Confirmation Class in October. Textbooks will be the Hungarian Reformed Catechism and the Heidelberg Catechism. World Wide Communion was held and the elements were donated by Miss Gloria Torzsas. We shall observe the New Wine- Thanksgiving Communion on Novem­ber 20. The Annual Bazaar was held with much success. The net income was the largest in recent years. Many thanks to our generous donors and to the untiring workers. Baptism: Debra Marie, daughter of Eiler Sorenson and Marie Kish on October 16th; godparents: Walter Sorenson and Anne Wancen. Plans for Chinese Auctions on Octo­ber 28 and December 2 and a food sale on November 19 are being made by the Women’s Guild. The Youth Fellowship elected its new officers: Peter Makerowski, presi­dent, Diane Bodnar, vice president, Kathy Gaerner, secretary, Beverly Junnier, treasurer. YOUNGSTOWN Our 40th Anniversary was a fine success. More than 250 persons at­tended the church service and there were 350 present at the supper. We would like to express our thanks to the visiting ministers and also to every­one who helped in any way. On November 6th we shall have Holy Commo'on during both services.
