MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 15 or affirmation of faith 6 adults and 5 children. Released 8 adults and 3 children, dropped from the roll 3 adults. Six members, 5 adults and one boy received funeral rites. (Our net loss: 2 souls) The annual congregational meet­ing was held on the last Sunday of January during the fellowship din­ner held in honor of our leaders. The main item of the agenda was the election and installation of our councilmen and officers. The nomi­nating committee was appointed by the Church Council in December, their report was received and ac­cepted by the Council in January, which resulted in a unanimous election. Members of the Church Council are: Louis W. Bodnar, John Estu, Kalman Helmeczi, Richard Heyz, Joseph Kallery and Alex Wargo, Jr. (3 years); John P. Darnay, Ernest L. Kovach, Charles Nagy, Jr., Julius Nagy, Andrew Sapos and William Toth (2 years); Francis Helmeczi, Frank Kottán, Jr., James Lewis, Elmer W. Shigo, Robert Szepesi and Joseph Voros (1 year). Honorary members: Miklós Balazs, Sr., Andrew Kiss and Frank Szalay. Officers of the congregation: An­drew Sapos, Chief Elder; Joseph Kallery and Kalman Helmeczi, Elders; Joseph Voros, Treasurer; John Estu, Auditor; Charles Nagy, Jr,, Offering Recorder; Frank Kot­tán, Jr. Secretary. Lenten Communion Service will be held on the first Sunday in March. During Lent midweek evening serv­ices will be held on Wednesdays. PERTH AMBOY The annual congregational meet­ing re-elected the following officers: John Marincsák chief elder, John Latkovich vice president, John S. Kovács, Jr. treasurer, Jaseph Bá­­nyácski secretary. The following members will serve 3 year terms on the Church Council: Albert Bercik, Paul Eldredge, Joseph Gylire, Henry Hudacsko, John Kish, William Orosz, Joseph Seemann. The pastor ex­pressed the appreciation of all mem­bers to Mr. Victor DeMarco and Mr. Frank Baka who were not able to continue to serve on the Church Council. Mr. Frank Baka completed more than 25 years as an elder; for a few years he also served as chief elder. New officers of the Men’s Club are Richard Hodan president, William Sabo vice president, Norman Bright secretary, Steven J. Deák treasurer and William Orosz chaplain. These officers and elders were installed on Sunday, February 7th and they participated in a corporate Holy Communion. Chaplain Major Ernest M. Kosa from Fort Hamilton, N. Y., was the guest minister at this service. The installation dinner on Feb. 14th, was a successful affair, ar­ranged by the Women’s Guild. Offi­cers of the various organizations were recognized; members, and friends gathered together from far and near to enjoy fellowship around the dinner tables. The quarterly youth conference in New Brunswick, N. J., was attended by 21 of our delegates. Kathy Nie­­miera, of our club, was elected vice president of the Eastern Area, and Rodney Matto as an “adviser.” Mrs. Elizabeth Dudich, director of our youth work would like to appeal to the parents and youth of our church for more cooperation in 1965. The Men’s Club’s excursion to New York will take place on Sunady, March 28th, to see the film “The Greatest Story Ever Told.” Those who are interested in going, should contact the members. Baptism: John Paul Pirigyi, 4th child of Mr. and Mrs. John Pirigyi was baptized on February 21st. Wedding: Miss Arlene Kipila and Frank Petronis were united in holy matrimony on February 27. ROEBLING Lenten Communion services are scheduled for March 7. Preparatory services will be held the preceding day, at 6:15 in Hungarian and at 7 P.M. in English. The Congregational Meeting raised the membership dues for families from $13 to $15 and for single mem­bers from $7 to $8. Officers for 1965: Bertalan Bartha chief elder, Frank Nagy vice-chief elder, John Kollár and John L. Peter secretaries, Joseph Bartha treasurer, Steve Bajzáth assistant treasurer, Nicholas Csögi controller. Steve Takach, Frank Keszner and Bert Somogyi, Jr. were elected elders for three years. We have started a “Reparation Fund” to cover the cost of repara­tions on our Church Hall, kitchen and other rooms. We need about $600. The work is already under way. STATEN ISLAND Reports at the Annual Meeting pointed out that during the pulpit vacancy all services were held and all major congregational activities continued without interruption. Dean Gábor Csordás rendered much valuable assistatnce during this period. Congregational giving in 1964 was the highest compared to pre­vious years. The following officers and elders were elected: Louis Kish president, Steve Albert vice president, Alexan­der Szabó treasurer, Alexander Kosa secretary, George O’Donnell, John Radvansky, Louis Doch, John Kosa elders. Funeral: Charles Fodor who came to America from Cigánd, Zemplén county, died at the age of 66. YOUNGSTOWN Lenten Communion services will be held on March 7th. The new officers of our Yolanda Circle are: Dorothy Mislevy presi­dent, Wanda Berkinyi vice president, Dubos Margaret secretary and Betty Toth treasurer. The Yolanda Circle will have a “Fashion Show” in Fellowship Hall on March 14th. The Spring Bazaar this year, as in the past, will be sponsored by the Men’s Club on March 20th and March 21st. YOUTH NEWS EASTERN AREA YOUTH FEDERATION CONFERENCE The most recent Conference of the Eastern Area Youth Federation was held on Sunday, February 7, at the Magyar Reformed Church in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The Conference was well attended by the youth of the various churches along with their advisors and other interested adults. The program proved to be very worthwhile for all. The topic, “The Ban of Prayer and Bible Reading in Public Schools,” which was presented to the group by two speakers, Dr. Robert H. Roth and Mr. Stewart Robb, provided for much discussion and many questions afterward. After the program, a Business Meeting of the Federation took place during which election of new officers was held.
