12 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ THIS WAS THE 25TH ANNUAL BETHLEN YOUTH FEDERATION CONFERENCE This year’s conference was very spectacular in view of the fact that it was the Federation’s 25th Anniversary. The conference was held in Camp Kittatinny, New Jersey, and was hosted by the Christian Youth Fellowship of Carteret. It began Friday, September 7, by the reunion of old friends and the union of new friends from Trenton, Perth Amboy, Duquesne, Staten Island, Detroit, Akron, New Brunswick, and Carteret. 143 participants in all, the largest in the organization’s history! Saturday morning the theme “The Case of Interfaith Marriage” was presented by Dr. Andrew Harsanyi. Everyone listened very attentively to a most informative and provoking presentation. The anniversary party featured square dancing directed by a professional caller. Although all were exhausted and out of breath, everyone joined in singing “Happy Anniversary” and consumed a huge anniversary cake. Our Christian fellowship was further increased by the observance of Holy Communion Sunday morning. Dr. Andrew Harsanyi and the Rev. Stephen Szőke conducted the service. After breakfast, all assembled again to hear the second part of Dr. Harsanyi’s presentation. Both presentations were followed by lively discussions in ten groups. Later Sunday night, everyone gathered around a campfire and enjoyed skits and songs presented by teams from the various fellowships. The Sunday morning offering was $100.34 and is being sent to the Bethlen Home. A $100 donation was voted for the planned campsite in Ligonier. Next year’s conference will be hosted by Akron, Ohio.
