14 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ YOUTH FELLOWSHIP NEWS At the last Eastern Classis Conference held at Perth Amboy, on January 28, 1962, officers for the ensuing term were elected. They are as follows: President — Albert Beke, 76 Morton Avenue, Trenton 10, N. J. Vice-President — Roger Bodnar, Staten Island. Secretary — Linda Jensen, 120 East Cherry Street, Carteret, N. J. Treasurer — Pat Moran, Perth Amboy Chaplain — Andrea Soltész, Trenton. To make the Youth stronger in the Church, the Eastern Classis Conferences are going to be held four and five times a year. In getting to know one another better the Eastern Classis will sponsor a Bowling Match at different alleys during the year. If we can get enough clubs interested we might have a Soft Ball League in the summer. The next Eastern Classis Conference will be held at Carteret in April. It would be appreciated if all the Churches sent representatives to this.May be we could give them some information on forming a Youth Group or on making the existing ones stronger. The National Bethlen Youth Federation Conference will be held in Trenton, at an out-door camp, but this is still in the planning stages. The secretary of the Bethlen Youth Federation, Julie Jacob, 171 Hunter Ave., Trenton 10, N. J., would like the addresses of all secretaries and quick replies to her letters for this conference. Thanks to Linda Jensen and Dr. Andrew Harsanyi we are having this Column. Any happenings occuring in your Club would be appreciated by the others. From this, other Clubs will have a new source of information for profitable projects and activities. It is asked that all secretaries please send their articles to the Eastern Classis Secretary, Linda Jensen. Further news of this will be sent to the seperate clubs. It is requested that the secretaries read this column at club meetings. Albert Beke TRENTON The Trenton Fellowship and Young People’s Society have formed a Basketball Team in conjunction with the Y.M.C.A. Church League. Although we have the youngest in a seven team league we at present, hold fifth place and sport a 5-9 record. Five games and the Championship Bout remain. A successful season is anticipated. Election of Officers was held by the Youth Fellowship at the Annual Meeting in January. Elected for the next year were: Walt Katona, President; Ilona Danch, Vice President; Ken Ture, Treasurer; Linda Beverage, Corresponding Secretary; Kathy Stevenson, Recording Secretary; and Ivy Stevenson, Sergeant-at-arms. The major goals of both clubs this year is the improvement of Chapel Hill at Camp Delaware, Hopewell, N. J., where we had our Retreat last September. We set a $200 goal for a new amplifying system in the Church’s Ball Room. In learning more about our own religion, we were invited and did attend a Jewish Service. NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS CARTERET Close to 200 members partook of Holy Communion on Lenten Sunday —a much larger number than usual. Mid-week lenten services are conducted every Thursday alternating in English and in Hungarian. Date of the next English service: April 5. Order of worship services during Holy Week and Easter: Maundy Thursday Hungarian at 6:30, English at 7:30: Good Friday Hungarian at 11 and 6:30, English at 7:30; Saturday Hungarian at 6:30; Easter Sunday English at 8:30 A.M., Hungarian at 11 — both with Holy Communion •—thanksgiving service in Hungarian at 2:30; Easter Monday Hungarian at 11. The Rev. Barna Rőczey will be our “legátus” at this time. Joseph Nagy, Sr. and his wife Maria Boros observed their golden wedding anniversary on February 10. Fifty years ago this day they were united in marriage in our Perth Amboy church. Baptisms: Carol Ann, daughter of Walter Bela Kovács and his wife, Alice Mathiasen; godparents: Emil E. Kovács and Helen J. Mathiasen— Scott Douglas, son of Karl Ziegler and his wife Anna Maria Geiger; godparents: Frederick H. Geiger and Doris J. Bergstrom—Erik Albert, son of Albert R. Andres and Patricia Ann Pross; godparents: Ronald J. Pross and Carolyn E. Rossi. The Youth Fellowship of the Carteret Church will be host to the Eastern Classis Quarterly Conference on April 29. A well attended Interguild Social was held in Bethlen Hall on March 29. Attorney Samuel Kaplan spoke on wills and members of the Youth Fellowship gave a variety program. PERTH AMBOY Christian Youth Fellowship meeting is held every Sunday evening from 7 to 9 P.M. Members of the Youth Committee Dr. Albert Ur, Peter Dudich and John Kish sent an important letter to all church members concerning the problems of our youth. Melvin Deak is the President and Lester Helmeczi from Rutgers University helps our group as an adviser. The Church Council meeting will be held April 10th, Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock. Sick visitation with Holy Communion will take place during the Holy Week. Good Friday Hungarian service is scheduled for 10:30 A.M. A united service with all Protestant churches of the city will be held in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church from 12 noon to 3 P.M., English service in our church at 7:30 P.M. Easter Sunday the service with Holy Communion will start at 8 A.M. in English and 10:30 A.M. in Hungarian. April 23rd, Monday, there will be a holiday closing service in Hungarian. The Men’s Club completed a 6 feet high chain link fence in the back of our cemetery. Many thanks to them. Also, the Men’s Club sponsored a Lenten Sacred Music Choir Concert on April 1st when
