Olga Szabó, President INTER-GUILD LETTER Dear Friends — May we share with you a most happy and memorable evening when we, The Women’s Guild of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Perth Amboy, recently celebrated our 15th Anniversary with an Anniversary Dinner at the Edison House on March 20, 1962. A warm atmosphere was felt by all as we were welcomed by our president, Mrs. Gabriel Silagyi. Mrs. Robert Jenkins, past president and presently chaplain, led us in prayer. After a delicious meal, Mrs. Norman Rhodes chariman, of the dinner, led the program. Each member was presented a ribbon representing her years of service in the Guild. Charter members who received the “Gold Star Award” for staying active in Guild affairs throughout the year were Mrs. Frank Baka, Mrs Frank Doros, Mrs. Peter Dudich, Mrs. Margaret Fagyas, Mrs. John Kish, Mrs. Alexander Nagy, and Miss Helen Kisty who was unable to attend and was missed by all. Mrs. Rhodes paid tribute to all the members with her “Who’s Who” of the Women’s Guild which she had written. Each of us experienced a personal warmth as we listened to her kind words of praise. Mrs. Peter Dudich reflected on the experiences of the Guild during the past 15 years with her “Remember When” bringing back many pleasant memories. A verse written especially for the occasion by Mrs. Stephen Cseresnye, “poet laureate” of our church, was read by Mrs. Dudich. May we add here that our wonderful Senior Women’s Club had sent us warm congratulations together with a special gift and had put flowers on the Lord’s Table to commemorate our anniversary when we observed our annual custom of participating in corporate Holy Communion on the first Sunday in March. We all joined in singing some favorite hymns, and realizing that the evening had gone by too quickly, as they so often do when enjoying true Christian fellowship, we parted with the words of our club hymn ringing in our ears and hearts. . . “God be with you till we meet again” Mrs. Peter Dudich Lovest Thou Me? Feed My Sheep! Christ’s words live in deeds today as through our gifts in One Great Hour of Sharing we aid our brethren in need overseas. Trapped in a pattern of disaster, poverty, ignorance and underprivilege from which they cannot by themselves escape, literally millions of our fellow men stretch out their hands to us for help. Many thousands are refugees—living history of a world in turmoil. Many thousands are victims of famines, earthquakes, fires, floods and typhoons. All are our brethren under God. All have claim upon our compassion as they seek relief from human hardship. “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” By our gifts today, we minister to “the least of these my brethren” — feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, healing the sick, sheltering the homeless. We help the ignorant and underprivileged to learn to help themselves, providing tools and training, so they may rise to self-sufficiency and dignity. And we do more. We provide them with faith—faith in God, faith in the brotherhood of man, and faith in the compassionate spirit of Christ. GIVE GENEROUSLY IN CHRISTIAN LOVE From the New Delhi Assembly of the World Council of Churches.
