14 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ granted to all members who fulfill their obligations toward the church. Yet. since burial is an act of comfort for the living, burial from the church will be granted to an inactive member whose immediate family are active members in good standing. The bells will be tolled at burials performed anywhere by the pastor or his supply, if requested.” The meeting room in the Church’s parish house ‘‘Bethlen Hall” was dedicated on February 16. In the course of the dedication service it was officially named “The Upper Room.” A plaque with the names of individuals and organizations contributing toward the construction and furnishing of The Upper Room was unveiled at the same time by presidents of the Loranfy Society, Junior Women’s Guild, and Men’s Club. Members of the Men’s Club presented a skit, “The Visitor,” written for this occasion. DUQUESNE, PA. Our congregational meeting was held in two parts. The first part was held during the Sunday morning worship services of January 22, when the Pastoral Report was given and the sermon dealing with the spiritual matters of our church life; excerpts from both the sermon and report appeared in print and sent to every member. The second part was held in conjunction with our first fellowship dinner of the year on January 29, when we elected and installed our lay leaders. The Pastoral Report indicated that an average of forty per cent of membership (160) attends the Sunday morning worship services, and 65 per cent of confirmed members live with the sacrament (221 souls). The spirit of stewardship is worth noting. The family average of contributions in 1960 was $133.33 and the confirmed individuals contributed an average of $71.22. Exactly half of our families (90) gave above $100.00 and 32 of these above $200.00. The total of contributions was $24,000, our total income$30,000. For benevolence and missions as well as for the several funds of the denomination we contributed $2,145.00 — while still heavily indebted, in the amount of $60,000. The officers of the congregation were unanimously reelected for an other year; these are: Andrew Sapos chief elder, James Lewis and Joseph Kallery assistants, Joseph Vörös treasurer, Joseph Toth auditor, Charles Nagy Jr. recorder of offering, and Julius Nagy secretary.
