16 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ “CONFERENCE TIME” Approaching very rapidly is the Labor-Day weekend, which for the young people of “The Free Magyar Reformed Church in America”, means CONFERENCE TIME. The 18th Annual CONFERENCE of the Bethlen Youth Federation will take place in Duquesne, Pennsylvania, on August 31, September 1 and 2, 1957. The Bethlen Youth Federation has made remarkable achievements among the youth of our church during the past few decades. Many of its past officers and members have become leaders in their own congregations. This CONFERENCE offers the only opportunity where the young people of our church from both the Eastern and Western Classis can get together to discuss the problems at hand, strengthen our faith and ties, and also an opportunity to get together socially. It was noted at the Executive Board meeting that most of our churches are experiencing a decline in the number of young people who are taking an active part in their own organization. This is just one of the many problems and questions which will be discussed. Plans for the CONFERENCE are moving along and are as follows: SATURDAY night ..................................................... Social SUNDAY morning .................................... Picnic However, the greatest of plans are made in vain if those for whom the plans are made do not cooperate nor participate to their fullest, not only in the entertainment portion, but in the whole program. It is my belief that all of you who participate wholeheartedly will obtain much at this CONFERENCE. Egyháztanácsunk elhatározta hogy ez évben kirándulást nem tartunk. A kirándulás megváltása cimén azonban adományokat kérünk egyházunk tagjaitól. Missziós és Közalapunkra a gyűjtést julius hónapban Dr. Betfia László végzi. Kérjük híveinket, akik nem használják a kettős boríték rendszert, hogy adományukat szolgáltassák be missziós alapunkra. Esküvő: junius 8-án Robert Louis Baker és Dolores Ann Bemer; junius 22-én John Billings Marchesault és Szabó Ethel esküdtek egymásnak örök hűséget. Keresztelés: A keresztség sákramentumában részesítettük Fityere János és Csanyi Ethel kis lányát Carol Elizabethet; Csanyi János és Nemish Gloria szülők kis lányát, Ellen Mariét és Cséplő Stephen gyermekeit Cecilia Annt és Betty Annt. Azután Selnik József és neje kisgyermekét, Debra Jo-t kereszteltük meg. Keresztszülei: Dudásh Pál és neje. Konfirmálás: A húsvéti angol istentisztelet keretében a következő felnőttek tettek vallást hitükről és konfirmáltattak meg: Mrs. John Weber Jr., Blodge Bukovey, Louis Apáti és William Cofer. Esküvő: Április 27-én esküdött Robert Hutfles és Patricia Selnik. Tanuk voltak: Robert Shelton és Betty Jo Beck. Május 11-én esküdött Merrell W. Davis és Elizabeth Hood. Tanuk voltak: Edward Davis és neje. Temetés: Április 18-án temettük Mrs. Ann Prachart. Május 15-én temettük Mrs. Elizabeth Simont, május 22-én pedig Varga Benjáminná egyháztagunkat.
