MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 13 BETHLEN Y0?TH FORUM PREPARE FOR THE NATIONAL YOUTH CONFERENCE At the Executive Committee meeting of the Bethlen Youth Federation, which was held in McKeesport on March 12th, and 13th, it was pointed out that the young people of the various Reformed Churches in our classes were not contributing enough material to the English Section of our magazine. As president of the host group for the coming conference, I feel it is my duty to arouse interest in the conference by writing a brief outline of our plans. The text of the 16th annual conference is from the book of Luke 7:14, “Young Man I Say Unto Thee, Arise”, the theme for our Sunday afternoon discussion will be “Youth Meets Christ”. The guest speaker will be the Reverend Walter R. Clyde, Ph., I)., professor of Christian Education and Missions of the Western Theological Seminary. Since all who attend the conference are either young in age or young at heart, 1 believe this is a very appropriate theme. When coming to the conference, f hope that all will come with an open mind and be well prepared to discuss the theme. I wish I had the gift to put in writing the feeling I have about the coming conference and be able to instill this feeling into the hearts of our young people in all of the churches. 1 am confident that the conference will set a new trend as to the future conferences and that the real intention of a conference will be made more clear to all of us. As was suggested at the executive meeting to have the theme of the conference discussed at the different youth fellowship meetings, thus becoming more prepared on the subject. Now I would like to pass along some information on the McKeesport Fellowship. We have 20 active members, and the preparation for the conference creates a challenge to all of us. At our meetings, which are held once a week, we have a discussion. This has proved to be quite successful and alows our members to become better informed on our faith. In closing I extend a hearty invitation to all of our Christian young people to attend the conference, and ask this question: Will you be there when “Youth Meets With Christ”? William G. Jardanhazy, President, McKeesport Youth Fellowship. The devil is never too busy to rock the cradle of a sleeping backslider. * * * There is no right way to do a wrong thing. Perth Amboy, N. J. — In April the Christian Youth Club had its regular monthly meeting with the election of the office bearers: Emery Karmazsin, President: Louis Toronyi, Vice President; Florence Toth, Secretary; William Toth, Treasurer; Betty Czeto, Chaplain, and Olga Bérezik, Publicity Director were elected and installed by the Pastor. The youth of the organization took corporate Holy Communion on the first Sunday in May. --------------o-------------Office bearers of the Eastern Classis Bethlen Youth Federation at their quarterly conference held in the Church of Charleston, S.I., N.Y. elected the following officers for the ensuing year: President: Florence Toth, Vice President: William Orosz, Secretary: Dorothy Evans, Treasurer: Mary Kovács. The speaker of this conference was Rev. Alexander Babos former missionary to Manchuria.----------•----------"YOU NEED THE CHURCH" You need the Church for your peace and survival. You need the Church to worship God “in Spirit and in Truth.” God has promised to be present where the people are “gathered in His Name.” Every Sunday morning we gather in His Name. You need the Church for the Sacraments, Baptism and the Bread and Wine of Life. Jesus said, “Do this in remembrance of me.” Receiving the Sacraments we receive God in Christ, strength and nourishing to our hearts and souls. Life is too difficult to tackle without God’s help. You need the Church to learn the Truth. Men have so perverted Truth that confusion has resulted. What IS true or false, right or wrong, eternal or temporal? God’s Word is the Truth, the “infallible rule of faith and life.” By its light you can learn what is true, right and eternal. You need the Church to serve God. The most important thing in life is to “know God and to obey His will.” Only in such knowledge and obedience to Him are you truly human. Apart from God we are sub-humanmen without souls, creatures without the breath of Life. Then, when you come at last to the “valley of the shadow of death,” you need the Church to help you place your hand in the hand of God. Thus you will be led beyond Death, that inescapable chasm between life and Life, to your Eternal Home. Yes, you do need the Church. You need the Church as you need the air you breathe and the food you eat. -----------•----------You can’t tell how much a preacher is doing for the Lord by the size of his salary. * * * Faith does not eliminate foresight.
