MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 13 YOUTH FELLOWSHIP'S YEARLY REPORT, McKeesport, Pa. We had 16 active members. Meetings were held Wednesday at 7:30. We had parties, picnics, and a hayride. Duquesene Youth Fellowship was invited to a few of our picnics and parties. Our members participated in Christmas caroling and the Sunday School Christmas program. Also four of our members attended the National Youth Conference in Perth Amboy, N. J. on Labor Day week-end. We were also invited to various activities at the Duquesene Church. During the year our income came from social evenings and the dues collected. Combined total income was $378.17, expenses for 1954 $188.50, present balance for 1955 was $189.67. Our Youth Fellowship donated $100.00 to the church at Christmas. Future plans consist of: 1. The coming National Youth Conference which will be held in McKeesport this year. 2. Increasing our Fellowship attendence and membership. 3. Providing more recreation for our members. In order to finance the National Conference, we hope to hold a few social evening. For the conference we wish to have the help of all of our church members. William Jordanhazy, President. Lutherans Told Not To Marry Catholics The Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, declared here that marriages of Lutherans with Catholics are “diametrically opposed to the eternal truths of God,” and called upon its pastors and congregations to take “firm but evangelical” action against them. A resolution, one of 104 adopted by the meeting here, struck out against the fact that the Lutheran party to a mixed marriage must take preliminary instructions from a priest, and must promise to rear children born of the marriage in the Catholic faith. It said that this is a sinful promise and “condemns unborn children to the soul destroying religion of anti-Christ.” This stand was taken by the delegates representing the 1,900,000 members of this conservative church. (Should not all Protestant denominations adopt such a forceful position? Évi egyházközségi közgyűlésünkön vázlatos jelentést tett a lelkész az elmúlt év fontosabb eseményeiről. Ezek között első volt az egyház 60 éves jubileuma. Továbbá az itt tartott zsinati és egyházkerületi gyűlés, főesperesi beiktatás, amelyen az ország minden gyülekezetéből jöttek össze az amerikai magy reformátusság vezetői. A nagy ünnepségek hatással voltak a gyülekezet lelki felfrissülésére és aktivitására is. Az egyház minden testületében fokozottabb és elevenebb munka folyt, amelyből a gyermekek, ifjak, kórus, nőegyletek kivétel nélkül vették ki a részüket. Az egyház anyagi ügyeivel kapcsolatban dacára annak, hogy ebben az évben sok külön kiadás volt az év mégis csaknem 6 ezer dollár tiszta maradvánnyal zárult. Évi pénztári zárlatunk a következő: Bevétel 1954-ben $20,658.46, áthozat $3,314.60, összesen $23,973.06, kiadás 1954-ben $14,825.05, maradvány $9,- 148.01. A pénztári jelentést Borcsik Gyula pénztárnok tartotta. Az egyház presbitériuma az 1955-ik évre: Lelkész: Ft. Béky Zoltán főesperes lelkész. Gondnok: Péntek Miklós. Algondnok: Soltész András. Jegyző: Rév. Adorján Kálmán ifjú. Pénztárnok: Borcsik Gyula. Ellenőr: Id. Adorján Kálmán. Trusteek: Id. Vágott István és ifj. Nagy Sándor. Tiszteletbeli gondnok: Duch J. András városi tanácsos. Orgonista: Béky Glória, Kántor: Nemes Károly. Egyházfi: Dobozy István. A presbitériumba 3 uj presbitert választott be a közgyűlés: Papp Miklóst, aki több alkalommal pénztárnoka és gondnoka is volt egyházunknak, Túri Andrást, aki több évig pénztárnoka volt és egy fiatal tagot ifj.
