He entitled his Divcm Bağ-ı Behişt (1047/1637). Further, a Mevlid of the same author exists. Literature: £75.367; OM 1.146; £/z7F (1964). 140; TDEA 5.438. (173b) ^xJjl ALUL <dj. uJLu sjjjl This manuscript contains a couple of works by the famous 17 t h c. poet N AB Î (d. 1124/1712), whose real name was Yusuf. He was born in Urfa, where he concluded his studies. On the recommendation of the governor, he went to Istanbul and became head secretary (divan kâtibi) of Muhasip Mustafa Paşa. He joined Sultan Mehmed IV's (1648-1687) campaign to Poland, wrote a Fetih-name on the conquest of the fortress of Kamaniçe; the town gate even had a chronogram (tarih) composed by him on the occasion of this conquest. N AB Î went on pilgrimage in 1682 and reports about his trip in the Tuhfetü'l­Harameyn. When Mustafa Paşa was removed from his post in Istanbul and died, N AB Î moved to Aleppo, where he lived almost thirty years. When the governor of Aleppo, Baltacı Mehmed Paşa (d. 973/1565), became Grand Vizier, N AB Î returned with him to Istanbul and stayed there until his death. Other works by the same author: 1. Divcm.
