Famous mesnevi by the well-known 15 t h c. poet Ş EYHÎ (d. 833/1429). Ş EYHÎ was born in Kütahya, hence he was considered a Germiyanoğlu. His first name was Yusuf Sinaneddin; the name Ş EYHÎ is due to his affiliation with Hacı Bayram Veli (d. 834/1430). He started his education in Kütahya, was sent to Iran, where he became acquainted there with the basis of Oriental culture. Also well trained in the field of medicine, Ş EYHÎ became famous by treating Çelebi Sultan Mehmed and was given the title of reis-i etibba. In medicine he was specialized in eye diseases. There is no doubt that Ş EYHÎ'S rise in the world of literature was due to his contacts with the leading mystics of Iran and Turkey. Thus, the sources unanimously state that the pseudonym Ş EYHÎ was given to him by Hacı Bayram Veli. Other works by the same author: 1. Divan, 2. Har-name, 3.
