The Camasb-name, written in 833/1429-1430 (163a), is based on a legend associated with the Prophet Daniel. Daniel was a famous physician, who was able to reveal the secrets of life and to find the remedy for every suffering. Before dying, he gave his book containing all those secrets to his wife for the purpose of the book to be passed on to his son. This son of the Prophet Daniel was Camasb. Carnasb, being deceived by his brother, will be thrown in a well. Looking for a way to escape, he finds himself in a brand new world. This is the world of Şahmaran, who behaves very nicely towards him and confines his secrets to him. From that world, Camasb returns to his own life. Meanwhile, years have passed. The king of the country has been seized by an unknown deseize. The remedy for this deseize lies in the hands of Şahmaran. Being convinced by the people of the king he reaches Şahmaran with difficulty. With the remedy prepared by Şahmaran the king will be saved. Like his father, Camasb also becomes a famous physician. The Camasb-name is a written variant in mesnevi form of the Şahmeran story, which is a much narrated, popular example of oral literature. Another copy of the story in prose, made by Yazıcı Öksüz in 1196/1780, is also known. The copy of the LHAS was made in 894/1489 (163b), but the part from the beginning to 8a was written afterwards. At the end of the manuscript some poems of A BDÎ are to be found.
