61 SUMMARY „THE LOVE FOR SCIENCES AND ARTS ..." The occasion for this publication was the 150th anniversary of the Library. The essay surveys the path covered since the foundation of the Library, the system of functions evolved, which carries distinguishing marks of collection, information, science and organization alike. Through the blending of these functions the Library has become an integrated scientific institution of a particular type, and together with the libraries of the research institutes it is also a manifestation of the interdisciplinarity of research. ,Respecting and maintaining its good traditions and ready for renewal it intends to write new pages of its history."
