It set up new rules concerning the reading room open to the public, the lending of books and the tasks of the Permanent Library Committee. These the Academy accepted and ratified at its meeting held on March 22, 1875. Henceforth the new measures of the Library Committee were to concern the organization and operation of a library with a large circulation and with smoothening the difficult path of a developing modern institution. 56
