V. To Ilis Excellency, Jenő Balogh Esq., the General Secretary of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. 1 6 Your Excellency ! It was with great joy that I read your letter of May 17th, in which you inform me of my election as a corresponding member. I shall in due course notify the Department Secretary when I shall be able to deliver my inaugural lecture. With distinguished respect, Béla Bartók VI. [To József Szinnyei, ordinary member of the Academy, Department Secretary.] 1 7 27, Csalán út, Budapest 11. Jan. 2nd, 193(1. My most honoured friend, I must leave town for three weeks, otherwise I would have been able to announce personally that I would like to deliver my inaugural lecture on Feb. 3rd, with the title "Ferenc Liszt". 1 8 As far as I know, lectures of this kind usually last about 30 minutes. Would it bo very had for it to extend to possibly 40 or 45 minutes? Because if so, then I would shorten it accordingly. Expecting your kind communication by about Jan. 22nd, I remain with true respects, sincerely yours, Béla Bartók " Balogh.
