The structure is composed of three stages: the base( ) , the circuit ( ) and a third stage. The base, resting on bulls' heads, is "32 'amot" wide and "5 tefahim" high, with an offset of "5 tefahim". The next stage, the "sovev", is "3C 'amot and 2 tefahim" wide, "30 tefahim" high, and with an offset of "5 tafahim". The third stage of the altar is "18 tefahim" high, surmounted by "horns" 5 tefahim high and one 'amah wide. ,"Amah" is inscribed twice on top of the altar, possibly alluding to the priest's standing place. Below the top "four and a tefah" is inscribed twice, possibly alluding to the 24 'amot and 4 tefahim square of the place of sacrifice.
