Orha Zoltán–Savanyú Bálint: Egy rézkori objektum leletei Keménfáról
38 Orha-Zoltán - Savanyú Bálint The findings of a Copper Age archaeological site in Keménfa We did excavation works at the archaeological site of Keménfa Szentegyházi-dülő in 2013-2014. On the site, Bronze Age, Roman Age, and 13-14. century phenomena were found. The location of the site is east of Zalalövő, at the bottom of a hill in the flood plain on the right side of the River Zala. The phenomena from the Copper Age are limited to the region close to the hill, the bigger part of the prehistoric village lies in the side of Nagykövecses hill. The findings from the excavated pit-hole complex can be dated to the age of Balaton-Lasinja culture typical to the first part of late Copper Age. The main share of the findings consists of fragments of biconic pottery. Some of the fragments were decorated with different contemporary techniques, but the rest was undecorated. There were handles on the belly-line of two fragments. Fragments of more undecorated bowls were also found. Two rim parts may have belonged to jars or bowls. During the excavation, a fragment of a ribbon handled cup decorated on both sides, a tiny pot, and parts of two clay spoons were found. The most frequent decoration found was the poked and scratched technique, often applied on both sides. Cannelured fragments were not found among the findings. The found pottery shows great resemblance with the known findings from County Zala, but the great number of the poke-decorated items, the decoration applied on both sides, the decoration of clay spoons differs from the similar age findings in the narrow area.
