Éry Kinga–Marcsik Antónia: Kehida–Tsz major 7–9. századi csontleletei

76 Éry Kinga — Marcsik Antónia Abstract Anthropological examinations on 270 skeletons from the 7-9th Kehida-TSZ major cemetery (Western Carpathian Basin) resulted in the following. According to measurement in the early and late part of the cemetery the skeletons were similar. The average adult skulls are long and narrow, the stature tall. The majority of the population belonged to the europoid great race; only two children had mongoloid features. In general males and females died mostly between 30-34 years of age but mortality affected men earlier than women. Fractures and degenerative changes occur frequently in adults, metabolic diseases on children skeletons, especially in the earlier part of the cemetery. Distance calculations between the Kehida TSZ major male and female population and 20 series from the nearby region show in some cases similarity but against it the narrowness of the Kehida skull remained an exclusive characteristics of the population studied here.
