THE HYDROGEOLOGICAL CONDITIONS AND INVESTIGATION RESULT OF THE OCCURRENCÏ OF MINERAL WATER AT NEMESGULACS In the NE area of the Bay o£ Szigliget, between Nemesgulács and Kisapáti villages several water reservoirs, water permeable and impermeable layers are found. The uppermost i'luviatile deposits of Holocene and the sandy drift-boulder layer of Levantine origin have a water-holding capacity. Below the first water impermeable layer a bluish grey sandy clay is situated. This light grey, small and fine-grained sand contains the layered water, which mixed with deep dissolved ions and carbonic acid forms the mineral water. Carbon dioxide is produced as the result of postvolcanic activity which is in progress even today, being a late phase of the volcanic activity. On the basis of chemical investigations and technical literature this aerated layered water is a calciummagnesium hydrocarbonate medicinal water suitable for drinking cures. Pál Krizsán
