Gopcsa Katalin (szerk.): Egry (Budapest, 2005)

1932 Imre Artinger's essay on Egry in the ARS UNA series 1933 the 50th exhibition at Tamás Gallery is devoted to Egry's work 1936 retrospective at Frankel Salon in Budapest; catalogue introduction by Ernő Kállai. The same material is shown at Neumann und Salzer Gallery in Vienna 1938 to cure Egry's lung disease and asthma he and his wife travel to Nervi in Italy, having sold their vineyard in Badacsony. He is elected president of KUT. 1939-1941: building a new villa with studio on the lakeshore; meanwhile lives in rented apartment at Badacsony 1939 exhibition at Ernst Museum 1940 rents apartment with studio in Budapest 1941 moves into unfinished villa in Badacsony 1943 elected member of La Fontaine Literary Society 1944 bomb hits his Budapest studio, destroying 25-30 larger paintings, 40-50 smaller pastels, watercolors and drawings. Takes refuge in Badacsonytomaj for month and a half. 1945 awarded Large State Gold medal; elected president of Rippl-Rónai Society 1947 awarded Liberty Medal. Wife's son from former marriage moves in with them. 1948 first to receive Kossuth Prize. Represents Hungary at Venice Biennale. Last visit to Budapest on July 17 th . 1949 in June, the Balaton Museum opens at Keszthely with a show of Egry's works 1950 in August, jury rejects five paintings submitted for the First Hungarian Visual Arts Show. Noontime Break later exhibited nonetheless, is removed from show. 1951 dies on July 19 th at home in Badacsony Memorial exhibition at Budapest Municipal Gallery
