Történelmi személyiségek 1809-ben - VLADIMIR BRNARDIC: A híresebb fiú híres apja
We are now in Schatenburg in He i mats museum of Feldkirch. One entire hall is dedicated to the war of 1799. A hundred years after in 1899 the monument is erected in the memory over the French. Two hundred years after this hall was designed. This diorama shows the battle and on the walls and in glass cases are exhibits. The brutality of this battle is shown to children and all that is made here is made for them so they could learn from it and to remeber of that battle in 1799. In and around Feldkirch there are a lot of places and memories on this famous battle. A picture of the battle that was fought around the church and painted later is in the church of Saint Michael in Tisis. On the graveyard and around the church on the small hilltop that dominates the area were Austrian positions. Beside that the scene of the battle is also kept in a target (Schutzentaffel) from 19 century. It is kept in museum near Schaltenburg in big, maybe the biggest, collection of this kind in the world. The memory of the battle had lived again on the 100 anniversaries. We are now in front of the monument erected in 1899 in the memory of bloodshed of 1799. It was unveiled in patriotic spirit when there was general enthusiasm with Austria. For his act by Feldkirch Jellachich was covered with many honours. Beside he was pronounced honourable citizen of Feldkirch and Bludenz he was decorated with highest Austrian order, Knight cross of Military order of Maria Theresa. This order gave him the right to on the title of heredity baron. But because of continuous wars and slowness of Vienna's bureaucracy he got confirmation much later, in 1809. Thus he did not just heighten himself but also his family. Beside that he was honoured by appointment as a honourably colonel {Inhaber) of the 62 nd Hungarian line infantry regiment formed in 1798. It had his name from 1802 until his dead in 1810. After the peace and so much honours 53-years old Franz Jellachich decided to have a family. With rank so high he did not need any more approve to get married. The Austrian officer could not married without permission of high military authority and without deposing high caution for a pension of their widows in the case of their death. Jellachich married 24-years old Ana Marija Portner, the daughter of captain and later colonel Joseph Portner and granddaughter of famous general Martin Knezevich. Beside that Ana was related to other Border (Grenz) officer's families: Chiolich and Vukasoivch. After the wedding Jellachich with the rank of Feldmarschall-lieutenant was appointed commander in Petrowardein where future Croatian Ban Joseph Jellachich was born in 1801. Four years later in the eave of the new war against Napoleon in 1805 his second son George Jellachich was born. In the war of 1805 Jellachich was appointed commander of division in Tyrol. Due misfortunate circumstances and unclear commands and after the capitulation of the main army under general Mack by Ulm he was also forced to surrender. Before of that the part of his cavalry led by highly born imperial relative escaped. In spite of his hard position he managed to negotiate honourable surrender and after the soldiers gave up their arms they were free to withdraw towards Czech. Never the less after the defeat of Austria and the Treaty of Pressburg Jellachich as a sacrificial sheep was promptly dishonourably discharged from the military without right on pension.
