KIRCHHOF, ANITA: The decorative system and reconstruction of the red dining room at Baláca - A balácai vörös ebédlő dekorációs rendszere és rekonstrukciója

In the Thomas-Bartha reconstruction the fragment No. 29 E. Thomas thought that this fragment decorated the lateral wall of the so-called Red-Black Room, but by now this hypothesis does not stand the proof. THOMAS 1964. XIV.; THOMAS 1964a. 100-101.; see also reconstruction: THOMAS 1964-THOMAS 1964a. XLVI., XLVII. The width of the black candelabrums and their stock of motifs in the so-called Red-Black Room are completely different from those of the candelabrums of the Red Dining Room, moreover, the rhythm of the red-black fields would have been broken by a wider candelabrum of different character. Nevertheless the main argument is the stylized column decoration can be observed in the border of the candelabrum, see: KIRCHHOF 2005. 55. In Pompeii: House of Beautiful Impluvium: LING 1991. 157. The axial distance was about 15,5 cm. On the Balatonfüred stucco frieze the distance between the ribbons, as measured in the present built in form: about 27 cm, and 37 cm in th axis which could be only smaller, if the fragments would be taken out.
