75 11 PHYLUM TARDIGRADA (WATER BEARS) JÁNOS VÁNGEL made collections of microscopic fauna in Lake Fertő in 1892. His collections were processed by JENŐ DADAY (1897), who found a single species of water bear in the lake. Water-bear specimens collected in the Kőszeg district by ALADÁR VISNYA, mainly in mosses, were identified by ALFONZ IHAROS, 1 along with others found during collecting trips organized by the Zoosystematics Department of the Péter Pázmány University of Sciences in Budapest. A total of 18 species were found in the district (IHAROS 1937a), of which one (Echiniscus batramiae) was described as new to science (IHAROS 1936). In a later publication (IHAROS 1937b), he presented the species and their places of occurrence in the West Hungarian border region. 2 1 VARGHA, В. 2000. 90 éves a Somogy megyei zoológus pap-tudós, Iharos Gyula (Somogy County zoologist priest-scientist Gyula Iharos 90 years old).
