Of his ornithological writings, the ones relevant to the West Hungarian border region are CHERNÉL 1886, 1887a, 1887b, 1887c, 1887d, 1888a, 1888b, 1888c, 1889, 1890, 1892, 1894, 1895, 1896a, 1896b, 1897a, 1897b, 1898a, 1898b, 1898c, 1899, 1901, 1907, 1909a, 1909b, 1909c, 1916a, 1916b, 1916c, 1916d, 1916e, 1917a, 1917b, 1917c, 1917d, 1918, 1919a, 1919b, 1921a, 1921b and 1921c. He left a lyrical account of a journey to Norway, in a book that includes several important ornithological and other zoological observations (CHERNÉL 1893; M.O.K. 1894). GYÖRGY ALMÁSY (1867-1933), a close friend of the CHERNÉL family, was also an excellent ornithologist (Figure 14.6). 71 Although he obtained a law doctorate from Graz University, he had shown an interest in zoology, especially ornithology, from an early age.
