Vig Károly: Zoological Research in Western Hungary. A history (Szombathely, 2003)
Phylum Arthropoda 107 JÁNOS FRIVALDSZKY (1874) devoted his inaugural lecture to the Hungarian Academy of Sciences to the country's ground beetles (Carabidae), enumerating many Western Hungarian records of species FERENC OCSKÓI OCSKAY collected in Sopron (Darufalva [Drassburg]), Doborján [Raiding] and Pinnye), Vas (Felsô-Lô [Felsőlövő, Oberschützen]) and Zala counties. He also used MILLER (1858) as a source. LAJOS (LUDWIG) ROTHE (1868), a teacher at the Evangelical College in Felsőlövő (Oberschützen), published a register of the beetles he had collected in the vicinity. ALFONZ FREH (1878), writing in the 1877-8 yearbook of a Catholic secondary school in Kőszeg, listed about 600 beetles found at Kőszeg. ADOLF KUNCZ (1880) listed more than 420 beetle species from the area of the city of Szombathely. JÓZSEF JABLONOWSKI (1898), in his list of the beetles of Vas County, took over KUNCZ'S list almost in its entirety, adding only some known agricultural pest species, which he had probably collected himself. ERNŐ CSIGAHÁZY (1898) published a lengthy coleopterological list of the collection at the grammar school, but it is not known where individual specimens were collected, so that Name given by FRIVALDSZKY Locality given Current name by FRIVALDSZKY Clivina ypsilon Lake Fertő Pterostichus koyi Sopron Amara striatopunctata Lake Fertő Dichirotrichus [sic] lacustris Lake Fertő Harpalus diffinis Lake Fertő Stenolophus discophorus Lake Fertő Bembidium ephippium Lake Fertő Helophorus acutipalpis Lake Fertő Hydrochus flavipennis Lake Fertő Ochtebius marinus Lake Fertő Aphodius hydrochaeris Lake Fertő Sitones cambricus Lake Fertő Clythra pubicollis Near Fertő Pachnephorus rugaticollis Fertő district Chrysomela chalcites Lake Fertő Clivina ypsilon Poecilus koyi 29 Amara fulvipes Dicheirotrichus obsoletus lacustris Ophonus diffinis Stenolophus discophorus Bembidion ephippium Helophorus micans Hydrochus flavipennis Ochthebius marinus Aphodius hydrochaeris Sitona cambricus ? List of beetles collected in the Sopron and Fertő areas, by IMRE FRIVALDSZKY (1865) 29 This species does not occur in Hungary, only a close relative, Poecilus sericeus. Previously, P. sericeus was considered a subspecies of P. koyi, so that IMRE FRIVALDSZKY'S record clearly refers to P. sericeus. (Personal communication from GYŐZŐ SZÉL.)
