Bills, accounts of craftsmen in the 18th-19th centuries (A few research aspects based on the Jászberény examples) The theme of this contribution is how bills and receipts from the 18

th and 19

th century complete our knowledge of the craftmen. These bills and receipts can be found in the archives of estates, cities, towns and other owners. As an example it presents some receipts relating to the local smiths from the accounts of the town Jászberény. These smiths include the 'smith of the town', the smiths from other towns and also smiths employed from other countries. The mentioned works were - in contrast to the data of limitations - mainly not to create new tools or artifacts but to mend, to resupply certain artifacts or to strenghten larger wooden artifacts with iron. In Jászberény it was essential to maintain the mills in the possesion of the town, in this constant project the smiths took great part. Irodalom H.
