Poroszlai Ildikó: Régészeti Park létrehozása és működtetése Százhalombattán
PoRoszLAi ILDIKÓ: RÉGÉSZETI PARK LÉTREHOZÁSA ÉS MŰKÖDTETÉSE SZÁZHALOMBATTÁN ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK IN SZÁZHALOMBATTA Százhalombatta (Pest county) is very rich in archaeological sites. In a 6 hectar area, within the 50 hectar Iron Age (Hallstatt culture) tumulus cemetery, an Archaeological Park - the first prehistoric open air museum - was set up by the „Matrica" Museum. Between 1990 and 1996 Ágnes Holport excavated the southernmost big tumulus (No. 115). Because of the hot charcoal filling she found a very well preserved oak timber grave chamber with a funnel shaped corridor. The conservation process of the dry timbers was very difficult but successfull by the organization of András Morgós. The museum, with the financial help of the self government, decided to present this unique find in situ and reconstruct the original form of the tumulus. The visitors are led. into from the West to the East on a steal bridge. A multimedia show with sound and light effects pesents the funerary custom of the Hallstatt period. Nearby this tumulus authentic house reconstructions - according to the excavation ground plans - are being ' built from the Bronze and Iron Age to show prehistoric life. Three houses, four types of bronze casting hearths and two types of pottery kilns have been already built up. < Environmental reconstruction is under process: trees, bushes and vegetables characteristic of the Bronze and Iron Age are replanted. Prehistoric seed experiment with Triticum diciccon and spelta is going on. This Archaeological Park is going to be the centre of experimental archaeology and education. On the other hand it is a place where visitors can try prehistoric lifestyle, cook prehistoric food and use prehistoric tools. Ildikó POROSZLAI „Matrica" Múzeum H-2440.
